I go to indian restaurants a lot - usually about once per week for lunches. Baton Rouge has a good selection of Indian Restaurants to choose from: Bay Leaf, India's, Al-Noor, Curry-N-Kabob...I've been to all of them, and not one of them is not worth recommending. Each has their own appeal.

For a fancy indian dining experience, try Bay Leaf for dinner. Their buffett for lunch is very good as well.

For a normal indian dining expeirence, try India's on Essen or Al-Noor. India's has slightly better selection, but both are good.

But I'd say that Curry-N-Kabob has the best, per dollar, indian food buffet in the city. Why? Here are my thoughts:

Small restaurant, small selection, friendly staff. However, they make the most of what they have. The Tikaa Masala is delicious, and the goat curry is good too. The other options on the buffet stay the same, but they're all above average in terms of quality, especially when you get there right when they put them out.

Naan is made to order. You sit down, and you can request Garlic, Sesame, or regular naan, all included as part of the buffet price. The bread comes out very hot, and VERY good...hard to imagine better naan anywhere else. This by itself, all other things being equal, would make me come here.

Price. At around 9.99, it's several dollars cheaper than most of the other buffet's I listed above. For that price you get a reasonable selection of food, delicious/fresh naan of more variety than you get with a buffet anywhere else in town, and the feeling of a hole-in-the-wall restaurant (which i happen to prefer).

All in all, there are many good options here for indian food dining. It all depends on what you're looking for. Typical cost-effective, delicious lunch buffet's: - Curry-N-Kabob Date night or wonderful Sunday Lunch buffet - Bay Leaf Change things up:...

Edit: I'm afraid I'll have to change my review. I was told I could have a milder option than what I was offered; my wife and I both have severe stomach issues that spices upset. When I asked for a milder option I was told "we cannot help you, sorry," and told that it was our fault for not being more exposed to spices; that our bodies had not built up enough "immunity". Excuse me?

I will definitely not be back, which is a damn shame because I could appreciate the notion behind the restaurant and the passion behind it. I even liked the food, I just didn't like the fact that it made both my wife and myself very ill due to the spices. When we first visited we were told the food could be tailor made to fit any person's preferences because it was all made right there in small batches-- and then when I requested the spice level taken down a tiny bit, the owner told me he wouldn't sell food that was tasteless.

Not everyone's preferences are the same. Not everyone thinks what you think tastes good, does. Just because you think the food is "tasteless" doesn't mean it is-- it might just mean then someone with a sensitive stomach can handle it, lol. Anyway, this was really just.. upsetting as all hell and I'll be sure to spread the word about it.

Wonderful staff, very personable. The food was amazing; best naan I've ever had. The owner is passionate about his business and it truly shows. If I weren't so bad with spice, I'd...

Me and my family used to love this place, we would bring family whenever they would visit as well as order to go on earlier occasions. That being said, there has been a steady decline in customer service and hospitality. We have brushed off the last few times, chalking it up to either covid stressors or just the staff having a bad day. However, this last incident was the final straw and we will now be avoiding any patronage in the future and suggest others do as well. My younger sister had called to place an order over the phone a few days ago and was met with patronizing and anger for making the mistake of not texting instead—an option she was not made aware of prior. As the interaction continued, the person on the other line grew impatient with my sister and began to yell at her for asking questions as innocent as if rice needed to be ordered separately. It was a moment of unacceptable disrespect and seeing as this comes after previous instances of unsatisfactory service, this is no longer a restaurant that any of us will be suggesting again. I urge anybody looking for similar cuisine to go...
