My recent visit to El Paso Baton Rouge was a great experience. The food was excellent—we ordered the shrimp tacos with hard corn shells and the steak tacos with soft corn shells. I had the toppings on the side for the steak tacos, and they were still flavorful and well-prepared. The chips and salsa were just right, not too spicy or too salty, making for a great start to the meal. Our waiter was attentive and prompt from the start, taking our drink orders and bringing chips and salsa to the table quickly. One highlight of the service was when my steak tacos were initially brought out by another staff member with all the toppings on them. Before I even had to say anything, our waiter noticed the mistake, immediately took the plate back, and returned shortly with the correct order. His attention to detail and thoroughness made the dining experience even better. For drinks, I tried the Mexican martini, which was surprisingly good—even as someone who typically doesn’t drink martinis. The restaurant also featured live cultural music, which added to the overall atmosphere. I’m not sure if the live band plays only on Fridays or multiple days a week, but it was a nice touch. Additionally, the manager personally checked in with us, ensuring we had a great experience. Overall, I would highly recommend El Paso Baton Rouge to anyone looking for quality Mexican cuisine with fast and attentive service. The food, drinks, and atmosphere all made for an enjoyable visit, and I’ll definitely be returning.

I dined in with some friends to celebrate his last day with us. I ordered the shredded chicken chimichanga with rice and beans. I asked for my food to go because I was full from the appetizer. I went to eat my food tonight and bit down on a ROCK! I called them to let them know and they refused to refund me on the dish. I wasn’t asking for a full refund. I spent $115 there and I ONLY asked for the refund on that dish because it was of course a health hazard. What if I would’ve BROKEN a tooth or swallowed that rock. Of course they don’t think about the legality issue. They just refused to give me a refund and offered me a damn coupon! I’ll never eat at this place again!!!!! The only positive is my server Israel M. Was very amazing. Shame one the kitchen and shame one the manager who refused to do the right thing.

Wonderful authentic Mexican food. The salsa has a delicious mix of onions, tomatoes, and spices that on the first bite you go yes this dinner will be good. They provide a bean dip too, yum. I ordered the three beef tacos. It came with a bean soup, a chilli sauce, a broth which may have been tortilla soup and Spanish rice. The rice was perfect adding the soup. The tacos were crunchy but slightly soft with a corn flavor. The others dining with me both ordered chick n fajitas. They came as all fajitas do sizzling and smoking. I recommend trying El Paso in Baton Rouge. I hope I will be back soon. I almost forgot, when you leave grab an El Paso mint Togo.

Asked to be moved to another table because of a movie blaring at another table (not restaurants fault). Was moved then we did not have a waitress until I requested one. Chips and dips were good. Our meal was good, until. Another table received a meal that was literally smoking. NOT steam coming off, smoke. the waitresses were chocking and waving menus. Other customers in the area and ourselves burst out into coughing fits. Asked for a to go box and paid for meal. Asked to speak to manager on the way out. Manager came and basically said people like to choke. That that is what they come there for. He is not going to change what he does. Mind you this was on Mother's day and the restaurant was half empty at lunch. Everything else had lines coming out doors. My main thing was that I was in disbelief that the food was not thrown outside from the smoke coming off of it. I would never have subjected my customers to such a thing. When i asked the waitresses they shrugged even though they were choking and coughing.

So if going to a restaurant and choking on smoke is your thing. This is the place for you because the food was actually good. Personally after the way the manager spoke to me when I went to voice my concern will keep me from ever returning. I did not ask for anything free or a discount. I already paid. Very poor management, poor service and good food. The choice...

So El Paso is down the street from where I work. I only went here bc I wanted fajitas and my coworkers always say great things ab this place........ it's funny how the people and crowd change from wkdays to wknds..... I hate making this a race thing but that's how my waiter made me feel. I'm black and besides the black couple who sat behind me in another servers section it was only Hispanics and a couple of white ppl in the entire restaurant.... plus I don't think the waiter actually wanted to serve me and my daughter! he watched us be seated and he kept looking at the table and still waited 10 minutes to come and see to us then when he did he talked so low and fast I didn't understand what he said.... He took our drink orders and then disappeared.... I asked him for a kid menu once he reappeared and then he dashed off for another 10 minutes he must have been a magician. Once he took our orders he never came back to our table until I had to get someone else to flag him down so we could get our check... The sad thing is I watched him give quality service to every other table in his section only they were Hispanic and me and my daughter are black.....! On the upside the food was good but my experience was...
