Repost from Feb 2 because they removed my review
I travel for a living throughout South Louisiana and in my spare time, my wife and I like to travel to restaurants. Unfortunately our little girl wanted to come here for her birthday on 2/2.. it was a nightmare start to finish. At first I was kind of excited to come because I'd actually worked at the Brass Bell, the small bakery inside the restaurant, back in 2011. Back then Golden Corral was on Sherwood, and just as busy, but the food actually tasted good. It was chaotic at times back then, but they weren't nearly as short staffed.
•It didn't feel like I was at a restaurant, felt like I was at a festival. There was a group of kids playing football on one side of the restaurant. There was food all over the floor mashed and smashed everywhere. I kid you not my family and I walked into the restaurant and there wasn't one clean table. •We went to one section and saw it was dirty and no judgement, but this ex convict came up to us as we're eyeing a table and said they were supposed to wipe down the table for him and his family. Come outta nowhere. me thinking chill gang bro you'll get a place too. Thankfully we went to the other side and found 1 clean place. I TRIED to give this place the benefit of the doubt. I tried the baked chicken, grilled meats, catfish, pasta, you name it.. It was all like frozen food they got from the frozen section at a store & heated it up in the back. •Again I travel 5-6 days a week.. It was more like great gas station food.
•The place was a madhouse, chaotic, like a circus type of atmosphere. It wasn't all bad because one of our children is very young and makes a lot of noise, so she was drowned out essentially. At best some of the food was maybe 6.5-7/10. The fried chicken was something I used to love here.. When I saw that dried up hot lamp looking mess, I just shook my head and walked away. I said ohhh THIS IS WHY I DON'T come here and haven't all these years.
•They'll charge you minimum $50+ for you and your significant other and a child over 3, premium buffet price and lackluster food. Presentation even, it didn't even really look good. It reminded me of the hot line at Winn-Dixie, Albertsons, Rouses,& where the food is packed up in the refrigerated/hot side leftovers? BTW those stores have better hot food. •Sincerely I know it's not a lot of these employees fault, I worked at legitimate restaurants that were run right. I worked my butt off at places like that making sure the place is clean and customers are taken care of. This, this isn't that place at all. If there was one word, it's dirty. Every plate I picked up I had to take napkins from the table to come wipe it off they were all soaked. I could see they were short staffed.. But when we did get service, it just feels like we didn't matter. It's mind blowing to me we come to a restaurant and because it's soo chaotic and busy, my family isn't a priority for you. •For the sake of not knowing her name Our server was ok it seemed.. But then we hardly ever saw her again. And when I finally went to get dessert.. I didn't have a clean fork, I didn't have a spoon in sight. I asked 1 server I stopped her and said, hey where's the spoons? Oh we really don't have any we've been short all day. Then she says if i ask my server that she'll get a spoon cleaned for me. So I stopped her and said hey do you have a spoon? And she said yeah I'll be back something like that.. And well we saw her again but she never spoke to us again. I was sitting there watching her for 15 minutes clean tables, and bring back trays of cups and plates.. never once again did she acknowledge my existence or my family and that I simply wanted a spoon for my dessert. I had to just clean off my dirty fork at the table and eat it with that. It felt like why am I here? She looked to be mixed race and maybe 5'11. We were gonna tip her 30% but she changed our mind! We genuinely regretted coming here, we hated the...
Read moreToday is our 12th Wedding Anniversary, and we had tried several times to get into the new restaurant, today, we went after church and after a short wait, were seated. The line to get to the steak/ribs area was pretty long, but my husband and m/i/law got their steaks and I asked for a well done, grey in the middle steak. The cook tried to give me a piece three times, and I saw pink, and asked him to cook it more. He cut it in half sideways, and put it back on the grill. He asked me to step aside while he served others, several of them also asked for WELL DONE! After about three minutes, he showed it to me again, and it was still pink, with blood running out into my plate...I nearly threw up, had to change my plate, and he then put it back over the flame area and I waited another few minutes. Finally, he gave me the four small pieces of meat, and one was well done, but one of the other pieces STILL had blood running on it. Since the three small pieces was not filling, I asked my husband to go get me another piece, again WELL DONE! Once again, it had been sawed in half, and this time it was CHARCOALED on the outside, and way too salty, and although three were done right, the last one was very bloody, I nearly gagged, and I saved it on my plate and showed the waitress. I had wanted to have a nice meal with my family to enjoy my Anniversary, and it was ruined for me. Please get meat thermometers for the main cook, and teach him how to tell when meat is well done. I felt that he was purposely not cooking my meat correctly, as I know some don't want to cook meat to the Well Done stage. I don't want to eat raw, bloody meat, as it is dangerous to my health. I doubt that I will go back, over $60.00 wasted, and my special...
Read moreJust had a horrible experience. I stopped off of the Hwy when I saw your sign to get some of those fresh yeast rolls that you guys are known for on my way back to Texas. I asked 3 people where they were before I was told the bakery. The lady at the bakery seemed inconvienenced when I simply asked her how long it would be before more would be ready and she didnt know. I asked to speak to a manager and one was pointed out to me on the floor. I politely walked up and asked if he was the manager and he said yes and I began to tell him that it was pretty dishartning that one of the customer favorites was not available within at least 30 minutes of our visit and he immediately said " Well I'm not giving you a full refund behind yeast rolls, we have biscuits " I was blown away by his statement. I expressed to him that I had not asked for a refund. I asked him for his card, his DM#, and corporate as the unconcience bias that was displayed to me was unacceptable. Not all people want refunds most just want what is advertised without issue. He was coming back trying to find that info and instead brought me 2 free tickets for return which wasn't even appropriate as I told him I was traveling and they are only good for his location. I then showed him our table that my husband and I had just sat down and hadn't even taken a sip from our drinks yet and now I did want a full refund as he handled the situation ridiculously and now all of a sudden it was possible. Yall might want to tell the roll bakers that when they see there is only ten left and the store is at 60% capacity that the night wanna start more if they take more than 30 min to bake....
