Tony’s Seafood is decent don’t get me wrong but I hate when they try to cheat you when it comes to your sides. I don’t go regularly like I used to but whenever I do I notice they try to give you as least as possible depending on what side item you get. I literally watched the same lady who tried to give me a tiny portion of the broccoli and cheese rice turn around and give the person behind me a big generous spoonful of green beans. The sad part about it is there was barely any rice left in the pan when she fixed my plate. Surely they have enough money and supplies to give their customers suitable side portions especially considering that the side holders within the plates are already super small. Lastly, I will say your side portions can also depend on who is fixing your plate. If you pay attention it’s very obvious to tell when someone in management is working on the line because they are either watching the staff, that are preparing the plates, like watch dogs or they are giving you little to nothing for the sides. At some point I’m going to stop supporting Tony’s all together because management is now starting to look really sketchy. I feel like “they” treat their employees working the line like a herd of slaves rather than real human beings who deserve respect. I can recall watching one of “them” (management) yell and scream at an employee on the line because she felt the poor woman was putting too much peach cobbler in a container for the customer. Throughout the years I feel like Tony’s Seafood customer service has plummeted a great deal along with the quality of management. If someone from management is reading this you should really treat your customers like you want them to return and also treat your employees especially the ones working the line with...
Read moreBest food on God’s green earth. Been eating here for years. Used their boudin for a homemade Boudin King Cake.
Boudin King Cake
4 links boudin 8 ounces pepper jack cheese, shredded (2) 8-ounce cans Crescent Rolls 1 pound bacon, fried until crispy 1 jar Tabasco Pepper Jelly Steen’s 100% Pure Cane Syrup 1 bunch green onions, sliced
Preheat the oven to 350º. Prepare 2 baking sheets by covering them with parchment paper.
Open a can of Crescent Rolls and divide the roll of dough in half down the middle so you have two mini rolls. Unroll one mini roll and pinch the seams closed so it’s a long, narrow rectangle.
Remove and discard the casing from your boudin links with a paring knife. Place unwrapped link of boudin down the middle of your dough and lightly smash it down.
Sprinkle about a half cup of cheese over the boudin.
Carefully roll the dough around the cheese and boudin and seal any seams that may reopen.
Repeat with the rest of the boudin and Crescent Roll dough mini rolls.
Place the dough/boudin log on a parchment paper covered baking sheets. Join two logs together to form an oval king cake shape. Remember, this recipe makes 2 king cakes.
Place in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
While your king cake is cooling for about 5 minutes, heat your pepper jelly in the microwave in 30 second intervals until it is thin enough to pour.
Pour/drizzle the pepper jelly & Steen’s Syrup over the top of the hot king cakes.
Sprinkle them with the crumbled bacon and diced green...
Read moreSome things - ya just don't fix if it ain't broken. Tony's Seafood has been around for what seems like forever, but what remains certain is there is consistency.
Yes, the parking lot will be full of cars, and yes you'll find police on the lot directing customers to open parking spaces. (Keep your fingers crossed that one will become available as soon as you are arriving - the flow of customers arriving/leaving is usually a match). Yes, lines to grab food will be long inside and yes sometimes the prices of hot boiled crawfish might be a tad higher than some local vendors, but there is consistency in something else. This place is ALWAYS well stocked...whether its your beverage of choice, goods for your next boil, frozen seafood for you to cook at home, fresh, hot and delicious plates from the deli, and fresh seafood - all kinds especially Louisiana's favored Catfish will be waiting for you. Staff is ready to serve and there is ample staff to serve the crowd. Cashiers are fast and efficient so your wait to pay and head out of the door is short. Boiled Crawfish is clean, packed with flavor and not over-cooked. The same for boiled shrimp and crabs. You might have to drive a bit to get to Tony's but after you leave, the party in your mouth will remind you that the small sacrifice...
