This was only our 2nd time dining here (both during breakfast hours) The appearance was clean and uncluttered and unsurprisingly gives you that old country diner vibe. The dining room was about half full despite it was after 9 am that we arrived. There was also a steady flow continuously to the counter for take out orders. The portions were adequate, bordering on large (especially concerning the generous amount of toast). Everything we ordered was tasty. The eggs were not over done, the bacon crunchy but not overcooked and the side order of sausage had the right amount of spice for me (I HATE a bland breakfast sausage like those sold at so many chain restaurants). There was plenty of helpful and friendly staff on hand that appeared willing to meet the needs of the customer in a timely manner. Even the bathroom were adequately clean.
The price was very affordable and much better than most sit down chain restaurants for a comparable amount of food.
The only real downside I saw was the fairly limited brekfast menu, BUT I would imagine that with the availability of side items you could probably get creative and meet most of your basic breakfast desires. (I may have overlooked it, but I did not see gravy and biscuit on the menu which is one of my favorites).
Perhaps one day I'll have the opportunity to try the lunch menu.
We will definitely return when we are in the area...
Read moreFirst, I have to say that it was extremely busy for a Monday night and I believe there was a large party and possibly only 2 servers working. I'll give credit to that and the fact that our server stayed extremely busy. However, the reason I'm only giving 1 star for service is that 1) I requested a small tossed salad for 1 of the 2 sides and our server told me that it would be a while before I could get the salad, so I had to settle for a different side. Then, after we ordered, I saw her bring out several tossed salads to customers who came in after us. That was a HUGE negative to me. Then, 2) Two customers who came in at least 15-20 minutes after we did, received their food before we did. It appeared as though some customers may have been "regulars" and I guess since we were from out of town, I felt like we were "pushed to the back burner" on service. What they did not know however, is this is my hometown and USED to be one of my favorite places to eat. Finally, 3) the server never stopped at our table to check on us after we finally received our food, even though she passed by us numerous times. My husband needed a refill on his tea (empty glass), but I had to go up front to request teas to go. On a positive note, food was okay; nothing to brag about, but bad service tends to put a "bad taste in your mouth". Very...
Read moreWe chose the B & F on a whim. The restaurant was obviously well established and had been there for "a really long time" according to the staff.
The B & F featured good, fast, inexpensive classic diner food. The portions were decent and everything was obviously fresh. The sweet tea was some of the best I've had in the South!
We visited at a quiet time, but they were still fairly busy with call in and carry out orders. It was definitely a popular local spot.
Our server was super friendly and attentive. She put on a fresh pot of coffee just for us and answered all our questions about the menu. The available choices were actually pretty extensive.
We'll visit again when we're...
