The first plate (my plate) is sausage, brisket, and ham with bacon and onion mashed potatoes in the bowl, coleslaw, and potato salad. The second plate (wife's plate) had brisket, ribs, and pork with macaroni and cheese, bacon and onion mashed potatoes, and Texas green beans. The sausage I liked very much, good flavor and the sauce enhanced it although the sausage was good without the sauce. The brisket was hard and dry and without flavor on my plate and the sauce didn't do much for it. I like a brisket that is moist and can stand on its own. This brisket fell far from that. On the second plate it was a little bit moist but still didn't have much flavor if any. The ham was good as ham can be, nothing special that stood out. I did enjoy the sides very much. The mashed potatoes tasted very good with lots of flavor, they did these right. The coleslaw was also very good, it was a vinaigrette which was different for me but I liked them very much. Well done! The potato salad was also different from what I have had, everything was mashed together and a bit creamy. It also had a good taste and was enjoyable. Ribs were good but not amazing, taste was there but they were a little bit cool. The pork was alright, was expecting a pulled pork but it was just sliced. Ate it with the bread and pickles and sauce. Macaroni and cheese was nothing to be happy about, not much taste and wasn't cheesy enough. When I go to a smoke house and get macaroni and cheese I am expecting something with plenty of cheese and also smoked! Wasn't worth getting. The Texas green beans on the other hand was very good with lots of flavor, the best I have had! Price was good for the amount of food that was presented. We spent $20 a plate with a drink. As for the stars I would only give 3.5 if it was possible, A&A is better than average but not by much. So I rounded up to 4 stars. I would go back if asked to go by friends or family but not a place I would be...
Read moreMy husband and I were passing through the city and stopped at this restaurant. My first impression is everything to me. So we walk in and get head turns by EVERYONE (not a single smile) and the workers seem so miserable. They don't even greet you, and that makes a customer not feel welcomed. We ordered the three meat plate but I couldn't choose chicken as a meat. We asked if we could pay extra and they said no. So we picked a half chicken and brisket plate. The restaurant did not have many customers and when we were walking through the parking lot noticed that there were maybe 2 cars in drive thru. But yet it took about 20 minutes to get our food, its not like they cook to order. That plate barely had any brisket, it was seriously like a brisket strip cut into four pieces. While sitting at a table waiting for the food a customer was throwing away his trash and dropped a napkin. First of all that customer is a pig for not picking up his trash, second an employee saw the napkin and kicked it by the trash walked away instead of picking it up. The food was in my opinion good, but the service was horrible. The employees need to learn how to...
Read moreI had a what was supposed to be a sliced beef bbq sandwich today that was provided at a meeting that we had. First of all...the beef wasn't sliced, it was more like chunks, second, it smelled and tasted like charcoal lighter fluid and third...the brisket was tough, bbq brisket is supposed to have bark on the outside and soft as butter inside....this was not like that it was tough all the way around. The restaurant manager needs to sample very often the food that is going out the door. The potato chips were good. I was very disappointed in the quality, taste of the food. People always tell me that this is the best bbq around and so far I have not found that to be true. I have eaten at other bbq locations around Texas and...this place tastes like they are barely learning how to cook brisket. Now to be fair...I've only had the brisket...so my opinion is very biased...
