Barney's Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Bay City

Barney’s Bar & Grill is your classic neighborhood bar. Nestled in a residential area, it was clean and welcoming. My wife and I stopped in for an early dinner, around 3pm. Barney’s was busy, but there was plenty of staff on hand and there was no wait for a table. We were served drinks right away, but we waited about 10 minutes for someone to come over to take out food order. A little annoying, not a big deal. We have been hearing great things about the food here, so we were excited to try it. It was Good Friday, so we had to have fish. We ordered a Crab Rangoon appetizer and I ordered the Crispy Cod Dinner, while my wife ordered the Cod Bites. Or food came out quickly, it was just as we ordered, and it was delicious. The fish was perfectly crispy, not greasy at all, and it was very flavorful. Top notch! My wife loved her Cod Bites and the Crab Rangoon was excellent. The meals were large portions, so we had a little extra to take home. Prices were reasonable, coming in at just under $50 for two entrees, an appetizer and two drinks. The staff was very friendly and checked in on us often. Overall it was a great experience. I would recommend and look forward to going back to try some of the other great offerings...

Doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside is one of the cleanest, nicest bars I've been to. The food and staff were amazing, and the beer was ice cold and served in a frosted mug. Definitely a neighborhood bar with plenty of friendly regulars, and as they all came in, the bartender knew em all by name and what their drink of choice was. Definitely recommend this place, and the food! The Barney Melt and the steak sandwich both fantastic, and the fresh cut fries with some vinegar are just like you get at the fair. We will be coming back soon. Oh, and not only were restrooms impeccably clean, they smelled good too.

UPDATE: So many times I will give a place a good review & then go back and it's not very good at all. HOWEVER... This is not one of those places. I've been back at least 6 times and EVERY TIME IS AMAZING! The service, the food, the cleanliness, the atmosphere, the friendly people! Always good! You MUST order the Barney Melt. It is fan-fricken-tastic!

Visiting from out of town. After tirelessly searching for a restaurant on the internet, the hubby and I finally agreed on this place. When we pulled up, we were sceptical of the curb appeal. A vehicle pulled up next to us and we asked if they’d ever been there. Against my better judgement of taking a drunk persons advice, we took a chance. The hubby and I shared the Philly cheese steak with onions rings. Huge AND delicious. He had a blueberry Blake’s hard cider which was out of this world incredible on the taste buds and went well with the sandwich. The service was very attentive and comfortable.
