WORST BIRTHDAY LUNCH to A 360° DINNER!!
MY BIRTHDAY LUNCH- Would NOT recommend to eat inside!!!! Worst dinning experience I HAVE EVER HAD. My friend took me out to eat for my birthday, we LOVE Chinese food and Shanghai is the only Chinese restaurant in town. We loved how the inside looked after the remodel, got seated right away, got our drinks and a few mins later our food. We had just began to eat when we heard very loud yelling, and what sounded like two people trying to kill each other in the kitchen. Everyone who is sitting down in the dining area along with my friend and I were very uncomfortable, worried and upset. As soon as the first round was over the second and third one began, one after another and the people that were in the dining area along with me and my friend got up and left!! Some people didn't their food but still had to pay, others refused to pay and ones who got their food camped to 30% from their bill. The dining room staff seem like they were too scared to go into the kitchen, tried to ignore it when they could tell that all the customers were VERY uncomfortable with what was going on. I told them that the place looked nice but with staff like what they had in the kitchen, not to expect any business!!! They should have comped our whole meal for the bad, uncomfortable experience.... I'm NEVER eating inside there again!!
A WEEK LATER!!....
I received a message from the NEW OWNER (Sarah Lee) of Shanghai Inn inviting me back for a complimentary dinner to make up for the horrific experience I had when I was there for my birthday a week ago. I believe that it shows great character on her part to reach out and WANT to correct a bad experience as the one I had on my birthday!
She took full responsibility on her part, did an investigation on what happened that day and took firm steps to address and correct it!
I was a little hesitant to take her up on her offer but I'm glad I did, my experience this time was a total and complete 360. The service from the wait staff was very courteous and professional. The food that came out this time was hot and delicious! The place this time felt calm, friendly and welcoming, from the looks on all the family's faces that sat around us looked like they were having a great dinner as well!
Thank you so much Sarah for making my experience this time a pleasant one and I will...
Read moreIf you're in town considering some good Chinese food, I recommend changing your plans and heading to Playa Azul for some Mexican cuisine instead. Let me share my experience to help you decide.
First off, if you’re browsing the menu pictures and their prices online, be aware that meals are around $14 each. I ordered five meals and was shocked to find the total came to $70. The pricing felt steep, especially for the quality received.
My expectations for Chinese take-out were completely upended. The rice was plain—just white rice with no added greens or flavorings that I typically enjoy in more traditional preparations. But that wasn’t the worst part.
We ordered the black pepper chicken, which turned out to be dry and bland. The Lo Mein was inexplicably sweet and savory, and something in the noodles tasted burned, making it inedible. The Sweet and Sour Chicken also had a burnt taste, making me wonder if the chicken itself was overcooked.
The egg rolls and crab Rangoon were another letdown. Both were cold and bland. The Rangoon, in particular, was almost entirely cream cheese with barely any imitation crab—some had no crab at all.
Lastly, the sweet and sour sauce was off. It was orange rather than the usual red and had a strong vinegar flavor that was unappealing.
In summary, I won't be returning. The food quality doesn’t justify the high prices. If the food had been good, the price wouldn’t have been an issue. Looking back, I wish we had chosen anywhere else...
Read moreIt's absolutely horrible. The bill for our table of 4 was over 100. The chicken in the dishes was rancid. You could even smell it. Politely told the lady, who instantly became irate. Telling us everything is fine, "you eat." Had her come to the table and see that we had not touched our plates. She grabbed everything and took it away. When she didn't come back, we went and asked if the food was being remade or what was going on. She said no. I said then I wanted a refund. She refused, I pointed out that she removed our food and something needed to be done. She finally yelled she'd give 50% back. She then brought cash back to our table one bill 65.00 and she gave them 11.00. My bill was 81.00, she gave me 12.00. Tried arguing with her again, and I finally said screw it, as I was quite frustrated at this point. So we left empty-handed after basically donating over a 100 to a...
