After reading the reviews and found very few to include details on the food-most were about friendly service lol We decided to try it hoping that there was more to this place than the bartender and servers….
Luckily, there was! The atmosphere and esthetic is that of upscale Texas cantina with large sports bar tvs. The service was fast and efficient. I didn’t find our server exceptionally friendly but attentive.
We ordered fried pickles and jalapeños and cocktails to start. He ordered wings with onion rings and i got street tacos. The food was good. Not exceptional but certainly not bad. However, I was disappointed at the presentation of the street tacos -See pics- and worried that it would not taste good. It was tortillas with chunks of chicken. The cilantro and onion were served separately in plastic condiment cups, along with tomatillo salsa. There was thought in the plating…it was a wooden board but the presentation was poor. If I saw a pic of this on the reviews or menu, I would NOT order it. Nothing about it looked appealing. However, the flavor in the chicken was there and they were good when I put it together. The wings and fried pickles and jalapeños were typical pub style food. There could have been another dipping sauce option for the jalapeños, ranch was the only offering. While we wouldn’t avoid this restaurant, there wasn’t much to pull us back outside of football season. Looks like it could be a fun place to hang out for late night...
Read moreTonight I ended up at the new sports bar Modelos in Beaumont Texas. It's a new place and it's locally owned. I'm a huge fan of supporting locally owned restaurants and pubs so I made a stop.
The first beer was my go to Shiner Bock but my second was Ghost the Machine. This is one bad boy with a whopping 8.5% ABV. It's a double IPA with a citrus flavor that will make you smack your lips saying "Dam that taste like grapefruit.
Appetizer - Shrimp Ceviche I love ceviche and this was on point. Served fresh with a side of chips and Valentina hot sauce. Just scoop some up, top it with Valentina and enjoy.
Main Course - Taco Platter 10 Tacos. 2 of each flavor. Carne Asada, Barbacoa, Chicken, Pastor & Carnitas. Holy Toledo's Batman hold on to your cape cause this is one heck of a ride. Flavor town here we come. Dress it up with onions, cilantro, with fresh squeeze lime and top those boys with some salsa verde. This was perfect. Flavor was on point, tender and juicy.
Jordan at the bar was very attentive. I got to sample a few beers and I gave her my opinion then she found a great beer to enjoy. The Ghost Machine.
Warren made a visit to see what I enjoyed on the taco platter. We had a great conversation and he was very professional.
My overall experience was amazing. Great service, cold beer with some amazing food. Thank you guys for opening an amazing place. I will...
Read moreon my recent trip to Louisiana, I decided to make a pit stop for the San Antonio Spurs NBA game. I called ahead of time to make sure the game would be televised. someone on the line was unable to even answer the question when they appeared to ask a member of Mgmt. They said " yes" the game would be on and to come on in. I decided against my better judgement to go to the establishment. Of course when I arrived and asked for the game to be put on they looked at me with a blank stare. I told them I called at which point they acted even more confused. In the mean time I ordered a Michelada, which was the worst I have ever had by the way. no Ice , no olives very poorly prepared. as they tried to sort out which channel the game was, I ordered some food. The food was warm but very basic at best. nothing to be amazed by for an establishment that has above average prices. I really wish the place was better than expected. To end the story the game was never found, and the GM was no where in site for the bartender to get help with finding the channel. I would stay away...
