on 10/24 I was quoted $867.00 per the Proposed Treatment Plan for some dental work out of pocket and w/ insurance. At that time I did not have that kind of money. I needed to have 3 teeth pulled (2 wisdom and one molar) along with some fillings that had worn out. For just the extractions it would be $380, I decided I would get the broken tooth pulled first (which I was quoted $100 when I called to schedule my appt for today) then worry about the wisdoms later on. Flash forward to today, I went in and asked if I could go ahead and do all 3 teeth instead of just the one. I was told yes, and that it would be the quoted price of $380, I said fine and I paid. My appt was for 2, I arrived at 1:45, I didnt get to the back to a room until almost 3, did not get the numbing shots till almost 4pm. After getting my mouth shot up, I waited another 20 mins for the Dentist to come in. He leans over and says ok "we're pulling one tooth?" His assistant and I both looked at him like uhh noooo, I said, for $380 it should be all three. Thats what I paid for. He leaves out of the room and a few minutes later the lady who did my original quote comes in and says "oh, the price is actually going to change, we'll have to charge more" Mind you I'm already looking up at the roach infested ceiling lights (like who wants to look at that while someone is in their mouth). THEY SHOULD HAVE GOT IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME!! You dont come in a room where someone has already been dosed up with numbing shots and say oh there was a "human error, you'll have to pay more", no ma'am becuase you should know the difference between a molar and a wisdom tooth, and which code belongs to which tooth. At that point I felt the were fishing for money and told the woman just that. She got upset, which I dont care. I just decided to request a refund and leave, I'm not gonna leave my care in the hands of people who can't be bothered to get pricing right .Its just really unprofessional to me. She young black lady who does the pricing had the nerve to be in the office gossiping about the situation,. I politely told her to give me my money back! This place is disgusting and this is not the first time they've started worked then started asking for more money! HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!AND ROACHES ALL...
Read moreIf ever you have put off going to the dentist because of fear, lack of money or concerned about people being judgmental, let none of these issues keep you from going to Smilepoint Dental on 11th and College St. I went to Smilepoint and from day one, I have never been greeted as warmly and had as many helpful people to assist me in getting the help I needed as I did when I went there. When you walk in the door, you will be greeted by an always smiling Arreal and Melani. They worked diligently to help me get the treatment I needed, over the course of several visits, never tiring of seeing me and never tiring of answering the millions of questions I had. They even helped me with payment options to get the work done at a price I could afford. Lexi’s bedside manor was awesome, recognizing how nervous I was about needles and made me feel very comfortable! Carah, the hygienist was just as wonderful, taking her time to explain everything to me in detail, and did an excellent job! It is a 100% Judge-Free, Feel Safe Zone there! When I saw the new dentist, Dr. Sam, I was in awe of how sweet and caring he was in helping me. He was very gentle and extremely kind, making sure I was never in any undue pain and was so professional and helpful. I cannot say enough about this team and how well they all work together, from start to finish to make sure you, as the customer, get the help you need to take care of your smile. I 100% highly recommend them and encourage anyone who has put off seeing a dentist, to go there. It is safe, super-friendly and most of all affordable! Read moreNew to this area and uninsured, I found Smilepoint Dental online as having high reviews and a new patient special of 59 dollars for exam and x-rays. The dentist, Dr. Le, did a quick exam and review of my film and said I had no cavities or infection. She proceeded to say that I needed an "intermediate cleaning," an ambiguous dental procedure that she explained was between a regular cleaning and a deep cleaning. Dr. Le left the room and the financial coordinator from the front desk came in. This woman priced this "intermediate cleaning" as 280 dollars. Knowing that I did not truly need this procedure, I declined it and requested only a regular cleaning at which point the woman said I could not get a regular cleaning because I had "already been diagnosed as needing" this intermediate cleaning. Recognizing that I was being squeezed for a questionable procedure that no other dentist has ever recommended to me, I walked out of the office. Dr. Le did not meet my expectations and the standard of care required of a reputable dentist. For a dentist to diagnose a cleaning more extensive than the regular cleaning, the probe instrument must be used to get measurements to determine where the patient's gums fall on the periodontal chart. Dr. Le gave her diagnosis without using the probe or any other thorough examination. I will continue my search for a reputable dental practice that does not attempt to take advantage of uninsured patients by upselling pricier cleanings that are not necessary. I recommend other patients to...
