Randomly found this restaurant on our drive back home and decided to drop by and grab dinner. We were a group of 7 who were able to be accommodated for outside seating. The food was excellent and the service was very attentive. We had Luis as our server and he did great at the end of a long day.
Started off with pico de gallo and fresh, warm chips which we devoured immediately. Those chips were amazing and we were hungry as well. The pico was also very fresh and we also got a habanero salsa that was very flavorful and not too spicy. We ordered guacamole which was made fresh, tableside and was really good. We tried 2 drinks, Casa Lola and Tamarita. Both had good amounts of alcohol, not your average watered down swill that is peddled in the name of booze and costs an arm and a leg. These drinks were strong but tasted pretty nice, clean and refreshing. If you like tamarind then go for the Tamarita.
We tried the steak specials like Arrachera and Rib Eye Fajitas. The ribeyes were insanely good value given that it was part of a Steak Friday Special. Not only did they taste amazing, but their sizes were absolutely huge and the veggies and the roasted pepper on the side made for amazing fajitas with the corn and flour tortillas. The ribeyes were served flaming. The Arrachera was a flat iron steak, carved up in pieces, also very delicious with the saucy drizzle on top and the cactus salad on the side. I wish i had ordered a cactus salad on the side, but the ribeye was so huge that I did not have any more space. We also got Camarones a la diabla, which was delectable, spicy (flavorful but not hot!) and had mushrooms as well, in a red sauce. The garlic rice that came with it, was an amazing accompaniment. Steak Alhambres and maybe Birria tacos were also ordered, but i don't recall trying them since i was so full from my ribeye even after sharing, and still had leftovers to take to go. My friends mentioned enjoying steak alhambres as well, even after trying the arrachera and the ribeye. So all the steak dishes ended up being great.
Even though we came in a bit late for dinner time, we were not rushed at all. The service was prompt and the food came out quite fast. At the end, Luis mentioned that even if it's close to closing time, that we can take our time to finish our food and order desserts. We shared a sweet and succulent tres leches cake which was incredible. As i finished my dinner, packed my to-go box and went to use the restroom, i noticed that everyone else had left and that Luis and another staff member were packing up for the night. As we were the only group outside we didn't know that everyone else had already packed up and left. Thanks once again for not rushing us through the dinner and providing impeccable service till the end.
In addition to the service and the main dishes, small things like the fresh, warm chips, the freshly made guac and the garlic rice left a big impression as well. Even though we sat outside the ambience indoors seemed really nice.
The restrooms were clean and free parking spots were available right next to the restaurant. Overall, I had a great time and would like to revisit and try out their tortas, molletes, queso con chorizo, pozole, birria and last but not the...
Read moreWhere do I begin? If you want an absolute pleasant eating experience, eat at Casa Lola Kitchen, in Cornelius Oregon. To start our meal off we ordered the Topas de Mole. Nice thick, home fried tortilla chips covered in a luxurious mole sauce, topped off with Mexican cream and queso fresco. This was my first time trying mole, and I was not disappointed. For her entree, my wife ordered the Filete de Pescado al Tequila. Red snapper with a butter tequila sauce and served with rice. The fish was tender, moist, not too fishy, and oh so flaky. The sauce was a delicious compliment to the lovely filet. I can safely and confidently say that this was the most delicious fish dish I have eaten and it's incredibly simple. For my entree, I went with the Fajita Nachos and I added steak. These nachos used the same tortilla chips as our appetizer, and they were perfect. The bell peppers and onions added a delicious garden fresh taste to the dish. They were also charred to perfection which added a hint of smoky sweetness with every bite. The jalapenos were spicy, charred, and an incredible addition as well. The melted cheese was mixed in with more of their delicious mole sauce and to top it off, was a lovely drizzle of Mexican queso fresco, which added an element of creaminess to the meal. The amount of food was perfect for our little family of three. We shared our food with our little one instead of ordering her a meal, which still left us all full and satisfied. To finish off our lovely evening, we ordered the horchata to go, and had the chance to taste the Arroz con Leche. A delicious, cold rice pudding. The rice was perfectly cooked and the flavor was wonderful. My Puerto Rican wife has never been able to find a rice pudding as good as her family's, until now. Overall, this meal was amazing. The ambiance was perfect, the food was stellar, and the service was...
Read moreI was greatly disappointed in this restaurant. We went there around 5:00 PM and they were not extremely busy. We were seated right away but it was downhill after that. It took awhile for anyone to bring us water and menus but when they did arrive we waited quite a long time for someone to take our orders and to bring chips and salsa. The chips were fairly good but the salsa didn't gave much flavor for it was just chopped onions and tomatoes without much else. My husband ordered stuffed chicken breasts and said it was not bad. I ordered grilled Maui Maui tacos because I almost always order grilled fish tacos when I eat at a Mexico restaurant. These were the worst I have ever had for the fish was completely tasteless and taste like it was boiled instead of grilled. They were served on a corn tortilla which upon picking it up torn apart for the tortilla was thin and only had one holding it together, most all other places use two under the fish. Other than the tasteless fish it had shredded cabbage and chopped tomatoes. Absolutely no favor anywhere! The waitress never came back to check on our order. I sat there for a good 30 minutes trying to get someone's attention. Even the table behind us told there waitress we have been trying to signal some for a long time, still no one asked if we needed anything. Finally when our waitress came to give us our check I told her I had been trying to get her attention and she just said "oh". I told her about the fish tacos and she never asked if I wanted something else since she could see that I had not eaten them but said she would let the owner know. Still we waited for a long time and finally we stood up and I went to the owner and handed him my credit card and explained how disappoint I was with the food and service. He did apologize and said they were short staffed but he corrected the bill and asked to...
