Since Hapa was closed, decided to the Indian food, as it’s been a while. Since I’m used to a bit of watered down Americanized Indian cuisines, I didn’t realize the “mild” option would result in spicy volcano.
Please note I’ve low tolerance for heat. I barely finished the egg and tender lamb which was very good, but I couldn’t handle the rice…. fans face
Next time I’ll try another dish that’s not so hot, but I think culturally the flavor is spot on, and that’s why so many people from India love this place. If spice level isn’t up to expectations, there’s sign of disappointment, which was the only low star reviews here.
Next time I go please gently suggest a mild option that’s not hot AT ALL, ha ha.
Update:
It’s winter time, and I was craving Indian cuisine to savor the season.
Decided to revisit for another dish that’s milder - the owner remembered me, and warmly suggested few dishes. I went with Korma, as cashew base sounded delightful.
The rustic yellow tint with velvety texture beckoned to be dipped in naan - which was soft, chewy, and oh-so-fresh. The robust flavor warmed my soul, and it was a pure blissing being able to eat in peace.
At home I’ve a one year old, and being able to eat undisturbed comes with much gratitude these days. Next carb of choice was rice, which absorbed the sauce and went well with the lamb.
Finished up with mango lassi - which was thick with fruit sucrose and complimented the curry. I am fully satisfied to the point I’m immobilized…
I shall be back when the hunger for spice strikes - for rest of the...
Read moreIf you are a foodie like me, you're always up to trying food whenever and wherever. So although I had just finished having lunch with some friends and was stuffed to the brim, I decided to stop by this quaint food truck featuring Indian Cuisine anyway, looking for something sweet like a dessert of some sort. Pal suggested something at first but I wasn't sure and suggested the Mango Falooda with ice cream second and decided on that finally. I am so glad I did because I'm not going to lie this was ammmmmmmazing. It's got pured mango at the bottom, noodles on top with ice cream infused with cardamom seeds I believe, which you wouldn't think would work but it really does and I don't actually care for cardamom but oh well. It reminded me a lot of tapioca pearls in syrup except this was more like mango ice cream soup. I would highly recommend it and them as well. You couldn't find a more accommodating staff and crew. So if you want authentic gourmet Indian Cuisine, without the gourmet price, then I would highly recommend this place, you would not be...
Read moreIndian cuisine has always been a treasure trove of bold flavors and aromatic spices, and the curry I recently tried was no exception. This dish was a perfect harmony of rich, creamy sauce and tender, well-seasoned ingredients. The blend of spices—turmeric, cumin, coriander, and garam masala—created a depth of flavor that was both warming and satisfying.
The curry had a beautiful balance of heat and sweetness, with just the right amount of chili to give it a kick without overwhelming the palate. The addition of fresh cilantro and a squeeze of lime added a refreshing brightness that elevated the dish.
Served with fluffy basmati rice and warm naan bread, it was a complete and comforting meal. Each bite felt like a celebration of tradition and culinary artistry.
If you’re a fan of Indian cuisine or looking to explore it for the first time, this curry is a must-try. It’s a dish that not only fills the stomach but also...
