I was very happy to have Biscuits Cafe near my Beaverton digs. It's always comforting having a diner near-by, although I'm used to them having late-night hours (when I usually crave breakfast comfort food) and Biscuits Cafe closes mid-afternoon.
Word around town is that it's the biscuits and gravy that are a must-try, and, as I've had some good ones*, I was excited to give the B&G a go. Actually two gos, I went back a week later; this review covers both visits. I ordered the chicken-fried chicken and chicken-fried steak, each with eggs, the B&G, and a short stack of pancakes.
Despite the chicken being fresh and the steak frozen, I found the latter far more crunch, satisfying, and traditional. I think that's the key element in this meal, and the thing I was craving something fierce.
The breakfast items were exactly as expected: the eggs are tasty and cooked exactly as I asked. The sausages and the patties are done with just the right amount of salt and fat, so they were just happiness on the plate. The pancakes were just right, firm enough to stand up to my fork and absorbent enough to move the syrup into my mouth and not in my lap; hey, it's appreciated!
The biscuits were better than good, but not perfect. Good enough for a breakfast joint in the middle of Oregon, but not the absolute best (as had be suggested). The gravy was chock full of sausage bits and the pan drippings but not the be-all-to-end-all gravy. Very good but there's room for improvement. B&G is a special meal, and there were lots of expectations raised, so forgive my nit-picking.
Would I go back to Biscuits? Sure, that'd make me happy.

Read moreVery disappointing experience. Our waitress was extremely uninterested and was visibly reprimanded by her manager. When it came time to check out, I asked her to come over because she was not coming over to deliver the bill. She told me to wait she was busy. She was talking to a fellow employee. When she did come over, we paid the bill. It was $34 plus a 15% which came out to roughly $39. I went to a different business to get something done. I looked at my Apple Pay history and saw that I was charged $45. Considering the waitress, I thought it was possible she added something onto the tip so I went back. I asked her to see the receipt. She showed it to me and it was completely wrong. They charge us $40 for the meal. I walked over and showed her the menu and the items we ordered were $17 each not $20 as charged. She called her manager over. He said they were incorrectly using the pricing system and their computer from a location in Arizona and the prices are wrong. He said this happened to someone else earlier that morning. He never apologized and then walked off.He made it sound like it was my fault for not catching it when I signed the bill. I told him you have been a complete waste of my time to drive back there and ask them about the bill. They gave me three dollars back. It was the wrong amount to give me back but at this point I was so frustrated. I just walked out. The waitress couldn’t even do the math to get the correction right. The manager didn’t care. They saved three dollars on the refund I received. Beware, this place went downhill. Considering this was a mistake in their electronic pricing based on the location, I wonder how many other people were overcharged for the breakfast special. I will...
Read moreIt is always my favorite place for fresh, delicious and hearty food. The patio is always busy on Saturday and Sunday mornings when you walk by the restaurant. The atmosphere of the restaurant is great and the staff is always cheerful and friendly. The variety of sandwiches, Benedicts, toast, omelets, and other egg dishes is much better than other breakfast places. I especially love the avocado toast, and there is no other restaurant that has five different kinds to choose from. You can't go wrong with any of them, and I look forward to trying different ones every time. "I've come to eat here many times, and the menu is so diverse that I never get tired of it.🤤 5/13/2023 Denver omelet and turkey sandwich. 7/20/2023 Bacon cheeseburger and B.E.A.S.T. Benedict. 11/12/2023 I came after a long time, and the menu had changed a bit. The Boom Boom Avocado Toast that I liked had been changed to Pico-Avocado Toast. B.E.A.S.T. Benedict and Pico-Avocado Toast. 11/13/2023 Biscuits Omelet and Berries and Cream Stuffed Waffle Combo. 11/01/2024 It had been a while since our last visit, and we were surprised to find that the menu had been completely revamped, with a much wider selection of alcoholic beverages. We enjoyed the California Club ($18.49) and the French Toast Flight Combo ($22.49), along with an IPA ($4.75) and a Spanish...
