My wife and I had dinner at Blue Fuji recently. When we entered, it was nearly empty, save for one table of four people, who left not long after we arrived.
When we arrived we waited at the front desk. The woman was on the phone and didn't acknowledge us. She could have simply gestured to sit anywhere, since the place was near empty, but she didn't. Finally, we seated ourselves and when she got off the phone, she gave us menus and took a drink order. She came back quickly with the wine I ordered and asked if we were ready to order. This was perhaps a minute after she gave us the menus. No, please give us a few minutes.
This was on a day when the outside temperature was about 68, but the A/C was on full bore in the restaurant. It was freezing. Bad for the environment, uncomfortable for us and a waste of the business's money. In other words, really stupid. I asked the server to cut back on the A/C and she did.
Then another person came in and sat down at the table right next to ours (in a near-empty restaurant) and proceeded to have a very loud cellphone conversation. It was impossible for us to converse. Of course, the woman serving us did absolutely nothing despite my indicating to her that it was a problem. I tried to get this guy to quiet down (it should not have been my problem) but he was too busy being utterly rude and clueless. I finally reached the breaking point and asked to be moved, which the server did.
By this time, I was really sorry we had decided to give this place a try. It's too bad, because the food was reasonably good. But not good enough for us to remotely consider patronizing this...
Read moreWith Chang An now closed I need a new Chinese restaurant. Unfortunately, Blue Fuji won’t be it.
We went in for Chinese food but they also serve sushi and there was a strong odor of fish when we walked in.
We ordered mai tais which were pretty bad, bad enough that I didn’t get a second drink. To eat we went with basics general gao chicken, beef teriyaki, and egg rolls.
The egg rolls were the best of the order. Very large and nicely stuffed with a thin crisp shell. I would get them again. The beef teriyaki on the other hand was chewy with burnt parts. I prefer it served with spicy mustard but this came with no sauce.
The orange chicken was average. The chicken was white meat and tender and the sauce had a nice spice. It came with limp broccoli.
The service was fine but purely functional. There dining room was dead on a Friday night. Most of the time we were the only table, I think it maxed out at three. Definitely not a vibe.
Bottom line: avoid the mai tai and the beef teriyaki. Other food is decent but if you are going to get it, get it to go. We will continue to search for a new regular...
Read moreI am currently on contract for a hotel and decided to get Chinese/Japanese delivered since it’s been awhile since I had any. I ordered the Crab Rangoon, Chicken Fried Rice and Spicy Tuna Roll. All this came to over $45 plus tip. I can’t tell you how disappointed I am in not only the food but following instructions as well. I asked for extra wasabi and soy sauce plus add chopsticks! I mean come on, you have to have chopsticks if you’re gonna eat Chinese or Sushi. I got a little wasabi but no soy sauce, and no chopsticks. No utensils, napkins, nothing. The Spicy Tuna looks like it was puréed and thrown together, the Chicken fried rice was sooo dry, I felt like I was eating a mixture of rubber and sandpaper. Horrible. Just horrible! Notice the Crab Rangoon wasn’t listed yet? That’s because out of all that, the Ragoon was the ONLY thing worth eating. But not $45 worth of good. Yea, I...
