I was very disappointed by the entire experience I had at Steelefish. And I hope that in the future it will be better
Service. Firstly, there was absolutely no bad attitudes or rude employees. Everyone was fine. We came in a large party which isn't always easy. But I believe management must make decisions to support the waitresses. We only had 1 waitress for 20 people. For parties of that size there should me 2-3. This would minimize how long she took, the Many many missing and forgot orders and overall service. Tips. Gratuity should be added automatically (or at the discretion of the server) for large (or any) parties. While I believe everyone in my party tipped well you never know. Especially after the poor service. My Meal was one that never showed up. And when it did it was incorrect and everyone was already well into their meals.and so I had to wait even more time for a redo. I don't think everything needs to be compensated but that should have. (I probably should have just canceled my order). Probably because she needed help what seemed to be a busboy perhaps was helping to bring out food. He was never told where to serve the plates and he always came to me first with someone else's food from the other end of the table. On top of that he would ask me what was on the plate because he had no idea what the food even was. If I knew I would say but when I couldn't tell he would then take the food back "to ask someone" what it was. Staff have to have the tools for success. Especially in the harsh world of a customer service career.
Food. I ordered a good amount of food and tried others (because mine was delayed and they took pity on me) This includes the crabdip, fried shrimp, chicken quesdilla, crabby quesdilla, NY Strip, mashed potatoes, asparagus and broccoli and pink lemonade. The best tasting item by far was the broccoli. And I still wasn't a fan.
Crabdip is MD's pizza. It may not be the best but it'll always do. This crapdip was so unappetizing I didn't eat it. I offered it around and it still went untouched after everyone's initial tasting.
The crabby quesdilla. While neither quesdilla I tried tasted good. This one was misleading. It would sound like it was a quesdilla with crab as the protein. Like you'd assume a steak quesdilla or shrimp quesdilla. The crabby quesdilla is a chicken quesdilla with that same crab dip inside. It tastes like a chicken quesdilla.
Mashed potatoes. These were so watery/liquidy the flowed all over half my plate into a thin layer. The look was unappetizing as was the flavor.
Pink lemonade. Originally I ordered a strawberry lemonade as I saw the S.L crush. Because of the shortcut recipe what essentially would be a virgin crush was not available. Instead I got the recommended pink lemonade. It was disgusting. The lines on the machines are a mess. The pink lemonade tasted like 5 different Pepsi products none of which were P.L. As if a kid mixed raspberry lemonade, Mt dew, Dr. Pepper, rootbeer and a splash...
Read moreMy husband and I have been here many times with friends, and have always thought the playground looked like a fun time for kids. When we wanted to go out for our anniversary and needed to take our kids, we decided to give it a try. We thought the kids could have a fun time and we could eat some yummy food. Unfortunately, only half of that was true.
The host sat us inside in view of the playground. However, we did not feel comfortable sending the oldest kids (6 and 4) over to the playground without one of us because of the low fence and the parking lot being right there. We knew they wouldn’t climb over the fence to get out, but anyone else could climb in.
The kids’ menu is not available online, but the playground led us to believe that it was kid friendly. The kids’ meals are $9.99 each with $2 being donated to Feed the Hungry. I enjoy being philanthropic, so it was fine. The meals come with fries and one drink. All refills on drinks are charged. We ordered 3 kids’ meals (corn dogs, cheeseburger, and marinara pasta). I asked if there was another side option instead of the fries. (I try to keep my kids’ meals balanced and the main course options weren’t exactly healthy, so I was hoping for a vegetable or fruit side.) Our server told us they had applesauce but it was “a dollar or two up-charge.”I was shocked by this as childhood obesity is a huge problem in the US today. (Even McDonald’s offers a healthy side alternative at no extra cost.) Health is important to us so we opted for the applesauce. My husband ordered a Cuban and I ordered the Jetty with a chicken breast. We also ordered crab dip as an appetizer. The crab dip portion was great, but only came with 8 small pieces of bread. We asked for some more bread. Our server brought it and said, “It will be an up-charge for the extra bread. Do you still want it?” Apparently this is Steelefish’s theme. We aren’t cheap people and we still had crab dip to eat, so we told her it was okay.
When the food came, the disappointment continued. My husband’s Cuban wasn’t pressed. That is the essence of a Cuban. It was just hot meat on a cold roll. My Jetty sandwich was very good. My 6 year old ordered the kid’s pasta. It was penne pasta in an 8 oz soup cup. The size of the pasta meant that there were only 10 noodles in the bowl. $10 for 10 penne pasta noodles. When the bill came, the up-charge for the applesauce (which was a container of applesauce) was actually $2.50, so a 25% increase of the cost of the meal to change from fries to applesauce. Our total spent on kids’ meals was $37.50 for 10 noodles, mini corn dogs, a burger, and 3 containers of applesauce. Terrible.
The whole experience really put a damper on our wedding anniversary. We will definitely will not be back with kids and may or may not be back with...
Read moreMy family has patronized this establishment numerous times throughout the past few years; however, we will not be coming back. A month ago my sister made a reservation for a large party (25 people) to celebrate my nieces' birthday (Just as we did the previous year). Despite the reservation being confirmed a month ago, my sister received a text message about 9:30pm (3/28/25) from the restaurant informing her that the reservation (for the next day 3/29/25) had been canceled. They claimed that there are issues at the restaurant that are not our concern and told my sister that it is inappropriate for her to try to force her wishes on the business. (My sister asked them to honor the reservation that was made a month prior to them canceling unexpectedly). In our opinion, the restaurant manager and owner (the person texting claimed to be the owner) were rude, inconsiderate and did not present as being customer centered. Their responses implied that perhaps it is their perspective that they were doing her favor by letting her know that the reservation could be changed to another day instead of treating her like a loyal customer whose family spent almost $1,000 in March of 2024 and who would have likely spent that same amount tomorrow at the planned birthday celebration if the reservation had been honored as expected for the past month. Our family is now frantically searching for other options to host the birthday gathering with less than 15 hours notice. The restaurant claimed that the person who confirmed our reservation overbooked. We are very unclear about how they chose to cancel our reservation versus any of the others. It is our perspective that as customers we should have NEVER had any awareness of any internal issues with the restaurant and they SHOULD have figured out a way (without bothering the comsumer!) to honor all of the reservations that were confirmed. While my sister asked for a phone call to better understand this matter, the person texting said they could not call; however, they were able to text numerous times without resolving the issue (honoring the initial reservation). From our perspective they displayed very poor customer service. We are very disappointed about the outcome of this and warn others who may be planning large events, to reconsider using this...
