First visit after living down the street for a few months and, never seeing this parking lot empty; now I know why. From: the decor, to the staff, to the clientele, I expected to be happy paying $30 a plate, $50 a head; this is the feeling I had walking from my car to my table. The feeling continued even after I opened my menu and found I should expect closer to $20/pp and $27/ph experience. Their staff to clientele ratio seemed off and, that was the only thing that made my experience less than top shelf. I ordered my servers favorite sandwich and, I'm not even going to tell you what it was, because, it won't matter; order what looks good and, enjoy a wonderfully prepared meal. There were three of us that evening and, I tried everything on the table with a standing need for self control, for gluttony was trying to seize me the entire time (I wanted to wolf this all down so badly). The drinks were fun and, flavorful. The dark wood and leather everywhere I looked, was inviting. The few TVs smattered strategically were easy to look at and, easy to ignore (which is something that is very hard for me to do, ADHD) and, in many ways something that makes this a particularly awesome watering hole; which, as it turns out, is also a spectacular restaurant. One other and, myself, did return for coffee and dessert later that same evening and, the server remembered our names and, provided us with some of the best coffee I've had in quite some time, served with a little pitcher of chilled heavy cream; divine! They only have two deserts and, they don't need a single other thing on that menu; home run, either way. I really did have a splendid time with, Fletcher's Kitchen & Tap and, I hope to return again and again. Frank, you are not the reason this is not a 5! However, the sheer amount of @$$ you had to bust to give us the service you did was; disconcerting (partially, because, it would have been nice to feel less rushed (not by you but, by my having been a server and, still being observant). All that was to say, "Dude, you are amazing! Thank you again for your time...
Read moreLate night take out-5min to kitchen closing Which I really rarely ever do but desperate times call for desperate measures ...so 5 minutes to kitchen closing I call for a Togo & this bartender couldn't have made me feel any less rushed in my ordering he kept reiterating to take my time that I was fine, made me feel a lot more comfortable placing the order and then never made me feel bad about it Or annoyed or that I was being inconsiderate etc to me that went a long way. Thus my over 20%tip on a $60order reflected my respect and appreciation for this service ( HEY SERVICE INDUSTRY THIS IS HOW ITS ACTUALLY DONE & HOW YOU MAKE GOOD MONEY!) even when I came he was so genuine and kind and Accommodating 30 minutes after the kitchen was closed I jokingly asked if he could add on 2 desserts togo and he did so happily As he totally understood being in the business of making money means making sales it seems like such a simple concept yet time and time again I'm seeing less and less evidence of people understanding this So props to the service of this place and to management for setting the example of this type of service & accountability...I feel As though it's becoming less and less common, a lost concept in society to see individuals in the customer service profession actually be of service,be perfessional and take pride in what they do! So when I do witness it I firmly believe, it needs to be recognized!
The food-VERY DELICIOUS! Even at 5 minutes till close not a single thing about my entire order seemed rushed or overlooked due to closing time of the kitchen so perhaps to the kitchen staff as well because I know you are wanting to get out of there because I've been in your shoes...
Read moreFletcher's Belleville is one of my favorite restaurants for many reasons. Besides being one of the few "sit-down" establishments in the west end, they have a perfectly sized offering of menu options to satisfy a wide variety of tastes. Most meats are smoked daily, steaks and other items finish on a wood fire grill, the burgers are some of the best you'll have. They run daily chef's specials for more variety and have a good selection of appetizers, pizzas and sandwiches as well. The fries are second to none. Most special diets should be able to fairly easily find a full meal of satisfaction, not leaving vegans and others picking off of the side items like at many places. Do not be fooled into thinking this is your average neon light, pool table, bud light rice bar! The food is the focus here. Although every business has struggled with staff to some degree or another in recent years, the overwhelming majority of my experiences have had, at a minimum, good server availability and entirely satisfactory kitchen times. Most of the time, you can expect exemplary service from a very dedicated core group of staff who really know their stuff. At regular meal times, the place is usually busy, often packed, but I've rarely waited for a table for 2-4. The bar usually has a few seats available otherwise. The restaurant has another location in Swansea on the east side of Belleville limits, but my experiences have always been better at the original location. (This one) One final note, both the brownies and bread pudding are...
