I’ve been here several times and have always found their coffee good. The last few times I’ve had food here have been a different story. I had lunch there yesterday at noon and that will be my last visit.
I noticed black, moldy specs in our water so my husband went to return the glasses and ask for new water. When he explained to the person at the register what the problem was she insisted that all the water is filtered and that nothing was wrong with it. As this discussion is taking place, another server grabs those two glasses and takes them to a table that is waiting for their food! We had to buy bottled water.
I ordered a spinach salad and paid $2 extra for chicken. The “chicken” was the frozen chicken product that you buy that’s shaped like chicken breast and colored up with grill marks. Super disappointing considering the salad had walnuts, blue cheese, and bacon on it. My husband had a frittata. For a salad and a small frittata I paid $20. On our way home we were struck with intense GI upset.
I tried so hard to love this place because it’s local and unique. I’ll be getting lunch...
Read moreWe had tried to visit The Abbey several times but their hours are wildly inconsistent. They only serve food during certain hours, so either the restaurant would be open but you couldn't order or it was closed down but would reopen later in the evening. Finally on a Sunday afternoon we tried it. The food choices were extremely limited with only a few salads and the breakfast menu-- one egg sandwich, a frittata, bagels, oatmeal or toast. After ordering we realized the restaurant closed at 1 p.m., so after making our drinks one of the baristas closed and locked all the doors with several tables of customers still inside. While eating we watched many people park and try to come inside only to find the restaurant "closed." One woman left because she was waiting for a friend and the friend was locked out when she arrived. After all of this the food was mediocre and the portions were not a good value for the price. Will not return-- would rather go...
Read moreNice looking place. Cute menu. Portion sizes are SMALL!! half a salad comes in a tiny bowl that they use for cups of soup. Clam chowder went from being creamy to being broke down and watery before I finished eating it(and i did not because of this). The chicken that you can add to salads is that precooked sliced processed chicken you can buy in a bag at the store- NOT what I was expecting(gross)Had a hair in my salad I discovered mid bite(love flossing my hair with someones hair while chewing). Very discreetly informed the cashier that I had the unfortunate luck of finding a hair in my food while chewing- Had the hair on the side of the plate for her to see. She takes the plate, goes in back and comes out to my table a couple minutes later. Instead of asking how to rectify the situation she states "no one in the back has that color of hair", Then was like do you want another salad. It was like she was accusing me of planting the hair...
