I visited this restaurant on Thanksgiving Day after a long day of volunteering to help military families enjoy their Thanksgiving dinner. I was excited to stop by and get an actual homemade sweet potato pie, something I was really looking forward to.
When I arrived, I was initially told they didn’t have a full pie available, only slices. But then a gentleman kindly went to check and brought me a full pie, which I truly appreciated.
However, when I got home and took a bite, I was horrified to find a LONG BLACK HAIR in the pie. I couldn’t believe it. I called the restaurant immediately, and the person who answered apologized and told me they would put my name in a book so I could receive a refund. I thanked them and planned to stop by a few days later to collect it.
When I returned, they did indeed have my name in the book, but a different gentleman told me they don’t do refunds. I explained that for obvious reasons, I didn’t want any replacement food from there. While I was there, I looked into the kitchen and noticed that no one was wearing a hairnet. With many staff members having long, dark hair, the probability of something like this happening again seemed very high.
The employee I spoke with seemed dismissive, simply stating, “We don’t do refunds.” I left without my money and deeply disappointed. I lost $20 on a pie I couldn’t eat because of the hair, and it felt like they didn’t care about the issue or about making things right for their customers.
This experience was especially disappointing because I remember when this restaurant first opened across from Franklin High School in Seattle. The quality and customer care back then were excellent. Sadly, it seems their other locations don’t hold the same standards anymore.
I don’t know if there are regulations requiring kitchen staff to wear hairnets, but based on what I saw, it’s definitely a concern. It’s unfortunate that this restaurant didn’t value its customers enough to address the...
Read moreMy son and I had the pleasure of dining at Ezel’s Famous Chicken for lunch on Thursday, the 22nd, and it was an experience worth sharing. We both ordered the two-piece chicken lunch special, which was not only a fantastic deal but also incredibly delicious. The chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside, and seasoned to perfection—everything you’d expect from a place with “famous chicken” in its name.
But what truly set this visit apart was the atmosphere. From the moment we walked in, it was clear that this wasn’t just a place that served great food; it was a place that exuded warmth, positivity, and a sense of community. The staff worked together seamlessly, with smiles and laughter filling the air, creating a light and welcoming environment. It’s rare to find a place where the culture is so evidently positive, and that’s a testament to the people who work there and the leadership behind them.
It’s easy to see that the team at Ezel’s takes pride in more than just their food—they take pride in how they treat each other and their customers. Their attentiveness, kindness, and overall joyful spirit made our dining experience truly special. Cultivating such a positive atmosphere in the service industry is no small feat, and Ezel’s has nailed it. Kudos to everyone there for making our lunch not just a meal, but a memorable experience. We’ll...
Read moreSecond time eating here. I think items are hit or miss. Regular chicken is bland. Spicy chicken is zesty but not hot. I wish there was something in the middle. If you like breasts you might be disappointed, only because they are a little smaller because of the way they cut the wings.
For sides I have had mac & cheese, mashed potatoes & gravy and baked beans. The beans are too sweet for my taste. I loved the mashed potatoes & gravy and the mac & cheese.
I wanted to like the peach cobbler, but there were spices that I thought did not belong. Almost like pumpkin pie spice. Also, just like the beans the cobbler was too sweet for my taste. I just want to taste peaches. I am certain the peaches are from a can. Perhaps this is why they add extra spice but I just don't care for it.
Addendum 3/14/2021: I appreciate the company responding to my opinions, but the only reason I can see them wanting to discuss them is to change or delete objectionable items i.e. improve their rating. I state that this is my second time at this location. However, I grew up around the original Ezell's, along with other chicken restaurants that did not last (e.g. Mark's Crispy Chicken and Churches). Both were on MLK Way which, at the time, was named Empire Way. So I am no dummy when it comes to fried chicken, but I like what I...
