I cannot say enough good things about this fabulous eatery, which quickly became one of my favorites. My Other Kitchen is a real gem of a neighborhood restaurant. It is ultra-clean and charmingly decorated, so you can enjoy eating in or on the outdoor patio, although I frequently pick up to eat in the comfort of my home.
I think that what sets My Other Kitchen way above and beyond other restaurants is the quality and freshness of the ingredients George always uses to prepare his menu offerings. Among my favorites on the smart, short menu are the exquisitely marinated chicken, the expertly seasoned and grilled lamb burger, and every single one of his sensational salads. Be sure to try his MOK house dressing – it’s really fantastic!
Sometimes I wonder why other restaurants don’t follow George’s lead and insist on fresh, quality ingredients to create a great final product. Okay, yes, they are businesses and have to consider profit, but I think it really shows when a restaurant values its customers more than its bottom line. I’m guessing it’s a point of pride on George’s part to give his customers the absolute best dining experience he can give them. Count me a very satisfied customer! If I could give My Other Kitchen ten stars, not just five, I would do so in a heartbeat. Kudos to George and his crew for outstanding food...
Read moreI often measure a restaurant on how they make a basic salad, and this place, wow, they made a near perfect yet simple Greek salad ($10.95). The feta was so fresh and soft that it was presented as a small scoop rather than crumbles. The tomatoes looked like heirloom ones, and were delicious. I ordered the 1/2 salad with spinach pie, which was AMAZING. The pastry was so flaky and the spinach with feta cheese was so flavorful. Considering inflation, I'm rather shocked that George is able to keep the prices relatively low.
My friend ordered pancakes and bacon (!) as they were kind enough to make it for her even though it was after 11am, and they looked so good. In fact my friend told me (and them) that she drives all the way from Roxbury to just get their pancakes.
They have no seating inside so it's ordering inside then take it home or enjoy the food at one of their small outdoor tables (about 4) with umbrellas for plenty of shade. Since the heat and humidity finally broke, we decided to eat outdoors at one of their tables, and never felt rushed to leave. If sitting outside, they bring your food to you but know that's in disposable boxes with plastic cutlery. For me, this is the only drawback yet I understand why it's the case considering that it's really mostly a...
Read moreWalking into this place, I KNEW this was going to be amazing. The smells alone are phenomenal, and you can tell that the crew working here are deeply invested in the restaurant (including the owner, who seemed to be working the grill at the time).
Food portions were very reasonably sized, and the food! Absolutely phenomenal. I'm bummed that I don't live closer - I would easily come here at least a few times a month if I were local to MA. Instead, I'm hoping to just tell other folks about it.
I'm a pretty big foodie and have traveled extensively. Everything here was cooked to perfection, tender but roasted and super flavorful. And even side dishes of veggies, or additional things like tomatoes, lettuce, and avocados, were clearly at the peak of ripeness. I hate when you've got a phenomenal sandwich.... with lackluster tomatoes and sad greens. None of that here.
I got the chicken gyro melt and had to get a second one to bring some home to my wife, because I couldn't just keep this to myself. Highly recommend. Definitely a hidden gem/hole in the wall. My only disappointment was that their wifi wasn't working at the time, but that wasn't even worth dinging...
