Absolutely loved my recent visit to Butternut Bakehouse! This place is a total gem, and I just have to share how awesome it was. First off, the blueberry cake there is out of this world. Seriously, it's like nothing I've ever tasted before. The cake was super moist, and the blueberries were perfectly sweet – not too sugary, just natural and delicious. It's one of those cakes that you keep thinking about long after you've finished eating. Then there was the cappuccino. I'm kind of picky about my coffee, but their cappuccino was on point. It had the perfect amount of foam, and the temperature was just right. It wasn't too hot or too cold, which is super important for a good cappuccino. It was the kind of drink that makes you feel all cozy and happy inside. The vibe of Butternut Bakehouse is also worth mentioning. It's got this cool, laid-back atmosphere that makes you want to hang out there all day. The staff were super friendly too. They greeted me right when I walked in and were really nice the whole time. It's cool when you can feel comfortable in a place right away. And oh, the smells in the bakehouse! As soon as you walk in, you get hit with the scent of fresh baking, and it's amazing. It's like walking into a cloud of happiness. I could seriously just sit there and smell the air all day. I'm already planning my next trip back to Butternut Bakehouse. Gotta try more of their cakes and maybe some pastries too. If you haven't been there yet, you're totally missing out. It's a must-visit for anyone who loves good cake and coffee!

A newly opened cafe in Belmont is good news! The place is full of light with panoramic windows, the seating and zoning is great (4 bar stools, 3 small tables for 2, 4 tables with a bench and a few tables with couches). The staff is friendly. Free WiFi. A variety of snacks both sweet and savory. The coffee isn’t best though unfortunately. It’s too bitter and overroasted to my taste and you will not see a lovely pattern on top of your drink like you do at Intelligentsia or George Howell, or Thinking Cup. An egg and bacon croissant sandwich turned to be on a bun instead of a light and flaky croissant.

I stopped in before New Years to get some pastries for my family. It’s so exciting to have a new artisan bakery in Belmont Center, with beautiful natural light and comfortable seating. Butternut makes the best canelés I’ve ever had - lightly caramelized on the outside, custardy on the inside, with a delicious floral vanilla flavor. I can’t recommend them enough!

I am a loyal customer at the Arlington location and was so thrilled to finally visit the new Belmont location today! As expected, the food and drink are excellent and prepared with great skill and thoughtfulness. I had my usual - a ham and cheese croissant plus a hot latte - and both were delicious. I was excited to see that this location has an expanded sandwich menu and really look forward to returning to try those items!

The space is gorgeous and roomy with lots of seating options. Perfect spot to meet a friend for coffee or settle in with a book. 2 hour parking (some metered, some free) is easily accessible.

I know some people are surprised by the 12% service fee that is automatically added to each purchase, but personally I respect that Butternut is committed to fairly compensating their staff. There is no pressure to tip, as a result, since this fee is already included. All of this is typed out and on display by the register.

I will continue to be back and highly recommend...

This place is new and off to a disappointing start. I’m mentally comparing it to Tatte which this place seems to be aspiring to, but not well. The decor is bland and soulless. The acoustics are not good for conversation; it’s a big open space and sound reverberates across. The booth benches have uncomfortable backs, the tables are too low relative to the benches (not good for a laptop for example), and they’re not bolted down well, so your bench shakes when the person behind you moves. The coffee was fine. The “everything croissant” was good, but the barista/cashier should have asked if we wanted it warmed up. They should also clean the floors under the...
