Old Benson Ice Cream Stop — Restaurant in Benson

My husband and I stopped here last week. I ordered a glacier with bananas, pecans, & coconut. I took my first bite as we drove away from the drive thru. I told my husband they used banana syrup. We backed up and told the employee that they used banana syrup not real bananas. She asked what we ordered. We repeated the order. She then told us we have to specify we want real bananas because they cut all their bananas and put them in the banana syrup. I told her I don’t like banana syrup and I wanted real bananas. She told me I needed to let them know before the order was placed and there was nothing she could do. Plus, she said it was close to closing and she didn’t have time to cut a banana. I told the girl that when people order something with bananas they might want to ask the customer if they want real bananas or bananas in banana syrup before they place an order. As I drove away, I ate a few bites and put the ice cream down. I couldn’t handle the banana syrup. There weren’t any real bananas and hardly any pecans or coconut. The employee was rude. Very bad...

We went to Benson and Pomerene last weekend to visit family for a few days...it was my daughter's birthday, so we decided to get some ice cream here at the Old Benson Ice Cream Stop...the service was a little slow, but the wait was WORTH it! The ice cream was Uh-Mazing!!! They even had a prickly-pear lemonade and it was so good! You need to stop by here and get some ice cream! tons of flavors to choose from! They could only dip the vanilla flavored ice cream in chocolate, though...which I thought was weird....I really wanted chocolate dipped in chocolate...but still, so good! My kids wanted to go back, but we didn't have enough time!...

This is a cute little ice cream shop but once inside, they have such a huge menu of flavors you can hardly make up your mind, they have 50 flavors or more of soft serve, I didn't even know that's a thing! The owner is so sweet, she will give you honest advice on the best flavors, i had a German chocholate soft serve, it tasted like milk chocolate and coconut, delicious! It should become a biker destination, it's on the way through Benson, and a quick stop off I10. My husband had a rootbeer malt he loved as well. I'm sorry I didn't think to take a photo of the ice cream, but we def will go back and try some other...
