This review is mainly advice for people wanting to order an ice cream cake!
As of now, email is their only form of contact. With this and my experience (see below if you want to read), I recommend future customers looking to order a cake to go in person (not sure if they’ll allow this as their website indicates email) or email the order at least a week in advance in case they take a few days to look at their email and respond (maybe have another option in case they say they can’t).
I had emailed them to see if it would be possible to fulfill a last minute request for a simple strawberry cake due to our order falling through at another establishment. Knew it was a slim chance as it was for the next day (24hr advance), but tried anyway as I saw a photo where it looked like possible extras were on display at their 4th street location. They responded 3 days later w/ an apology and that it takes 3 days to make a cake (makes sense) — a single sentence email that could have been sent more promptly… Putting 3 stars because I’ve eaten ice cream here a few times over the years and their flavors are delicious. Though cakes seem to be a secondary priority, it would be helpful if the web page included more info, from the 3 days in advance to a price range. I know they must be busy, but hoping they improve their communication in the long-term (just indicating the timeline on the web page would help, including that responses take...
Read moreMy partner and I have been loyal customers and have enjoyed your ice cream many times. Unfortunately, tonight we had a very upsetting interaction with one of your employees.
We came at 7:50pm. A young worker wearing a pink beanie and headphones appeared visibly frustrated as we ordered. When I placed my order and selected my toppings, the worker made an audible frustrated sound. Then my partner ordered and stated his toppings. At that point, the worker said — and I quote — “you should tell me the toppings first friend” in a tone that was unnecessarily condescending.
I then politely suggested that perhaps it would help if staff let customers know about the preferred order process before cup sizes are chosen. The worker replied — again with an unprofessional attitude — “we don’t hold our customers’ hands and believe in them to order on their own.”
At that point, given the worker’s tone and attitude, we chose not to complete our order and I requested the manager’s phone number. The number was not provided, so I will also be calling directly to follow up, as I believe this level of service is...
Read moreMy first time at the 4th Street location (Solano location is one of my favorite ice cream shops).
Ice cream flavor is amazing as always, but a couple comments: Why is the small size called "teensy"? This was so confusing. The employee repeated something about a "teensy" to me 3 times and I had no idea what she was talking about. Just call it baby/small/medium/large like the Solano location, and remove baby if you want. This location only has prepacked pints. There were no pints of the flavor I wanted. The employee kindly said she could pack the flavor I wanted in multiple large cups, but I declined since I didn't want to carry multiple cups with no lids. It would be great if you kept some extra empty pint containers for when the pre packed flavors are gone.
Hope this is...
