This was our first visit there. I absolutely loved their chicken enchiladas! They were packed full of chicken and had a different type of cheese (might be feta) on top to add a flavorful taste. The non alcohol drinks are lacking in types. You have 2 spots to order from at the bar and huge wipe board menus to see when you first walk in. We asked the girl behind the bar some questions about contents in some items and she already knew the answers (pleasant surprise) she was also friendly. The people who brought put the food seemed off somehow. The younger dark haired one comes off as annoyed and I asked for sugar for my tea and her reply was "no, we dont carry that here." The server who brought our food was older but trying hard to please everyone. She was working hard and did find me some sugar for the ice tea. It's unclear if they are considered a waitress/waiter because they don't take your order, so we didn't know if we clear our own plates and are we supposed to tip for such little service. (They dropped off food and didn't come back) The food was wonderful, the service was ehh, cleanliness was good. Seating is a lot of large tables and fewer small for just couples. So you may have to share a table with a stranger if they run out of...
Read moreI've been eating here ever since they opened. Food is good, the quality is good, but there is a major issue that seems to be getting worse. The portions of meat are very inconsistent for certain dishes. Ceviche should be mostly fish, with some onions and avocado, etc. It shouldn't be mostly vegetables and you have to search around for a piece of shrimp, especially for $12. Our favorite go to was the full order of ensalada primavera with a side of al pastor. The side order used to be about 3-4 oz. but sometimes it's barely 2 oz. It doesn't matter if you order the meat on top of the salad or in a separate container, it's a crapshoot how much you will get, and this is a $15 salad, folks. I've complained to the staff, one lady just sympathized but wouldn't mention it to the management, the other person denied the problem and claimed they had a system to ensure it was always the same amount although clearly it isn't. I get that rent on 4th St. is crazy expensive and they just remodeled their new space, but this is not a high end restaurant, and they are charging too much for what is a light, cheap to prepare meal. I don't have a big appetite, and I shouldn't still be hungry at the...
Read moreI really loved this place. I just ate there recently and the food was not up to par with my previous experiences. Food tasted less delicate* and more generic. Portions were bigger, but that was never a problem with this place. I'd rather have the smaller portion with better quality.
Enchiladas were drenched in sauce and creme and overstuffed with meat (too high meat ratio) and were not as delicate as in the past. Churros were literally covered in a enough sugar for 2 more orders. Mole Tamal was drenched in sauce, that was super sweet. Again, food lost the more delicate taste, which usually brought me back.
Happy hour beers and shots were 10$. Really? I thought happy hour drinks were supposed to be cheaper, not more expensive.
Not sure if new management followed the transition to the new location, but I will give this place one more shot to prove my bad experience was isolated and not something to be expected. 4.5 stars is for the previous good experiences. My most recent experience would...
