The Tap Haus — Restaurant in Berkeley

After grabbing lunch with a buddy we made our way here to relax and play some pool and have a few beers. This place is tucked down below street level so you might miss it. But, once you make your way downstairs and through the doors this place opens up and is very lively. They have music playing and a TV with sports in usually. They have 6 pool tables that are in good condition and only cost $6 an hour to play on. They also have 2 large connect four games. Their selection of beer is pretty nice. They have German selection and a domestic selection. Plus they have some local beers too. We both tried the Buzzerkley, which is like a white Belgian beer. It was pretty damn good but strong. Two of them and I was feeling pretty happy. We played a few rounds of pool and enjoyed our beers. The bartenders were very nice and friendly and easy to talk to. This place is a solid hit. Terrible bar, bad service and worse music. Not very welcoming. I was told Tuesday's where good days to go to this place and I went at 11:00pm on a Tuesday and it was totally dead. Also the door man was rude, very aggressive, and even went as far as to place hands and shove some kid he wasn't trying to allow in. The door man was clearly drunk. He was some over wieght bearded jackass and could hardly even stand. If you are trying to have a good time DO NOT GO HERE! I would recommend that if you are looking for a bar in the area go to either Pappys or Remmys, they are usually pretty full and you don't have to deal with any drunk employees violating your personal space or assaulting customers. So, what we had as far as food was the bar sampler and a grilled cheese sandwich with bacon! As a collective, oh my God! Lots of bar food at a reasonable price. We also had some fantastic beers and delicious cocktails. The environment is very accommodating for family fun. If your family is into oversized jenga, oversized connect 4, and pool. The bartender Hailey was exceptional!!!! She remembered our drinks, as far as each individual, and was Engaged and gave us tips as to what to enjoy next.( As we were in the exploratory beer mode) The whole vibe of the place was very accommodating and Enjoyable for a family over 21.
