California Burrito!!!! I haven’t tried anything else on the menu (although I should). I live in the east coast where burritos are common but when I visited Oakland for business I went to this spot as it was opened late. I asked the guy behind the counter “what’s popular here?” And he pointed to the California burrito. I didn’t have any rave expectations as I’ve tried other burritos in Oakland, which were good but no where near for me to write a raving review. I took it back to my hotel room with chips and a few of the sauces they provide at no additional cost as well as a horchata drink. Took this burrito out of the bag and let me say that this thing was huge! It was love at first bite. While working the next day the only thing I could think of was getting this burrito again. It was so good that for fear of me not eating the California burrito for a long while, I took 2 with me to put in my carry on to take home. The staff is friendly, the price is very fair and the place looks clean. It’s a small spot so seating is limited but should be fine to take home as they wrap it tight to keep the heat in. It shame they don’t exist near me or I would be on this place daily. Do yourself a favor If you haven’t tried this spot and order the California burrito first...
Read moreWe weren't planning on coming here, in fact we didn't even know this place existed. We had parked and were walking to the place we were going to have dinner. We saw this place and I was like mmm! Mexican food! When we got to where we were planing on going, there was no space so I suggested the Mexican place we walked past and that's how we ended up here. Small place, not much seating. The food was priced pretty average which was nice. We aren't from the areas I was worried about higher prices since its a bigger city. I ordered shredded chicken nachos with everything on it, a cheese quesadilla, and piña agua fresca. My husband got a lengua burrito, a cheese quesadilla, and piña agua fresca. With tip and tax, it came out to just over $50. The agua fresca was freshly made in house and you could tell because there was a lot of pulp. The nachos were delicious and so heavy with toppings that I had to use spare chips to start off with because I couldn't find them under the toppings. My only gripe is that they were cantina style chips so they kept breaking but they tasted good so there's that. Neither I nor my husband were able to eat our quesadillas since we were so full. We took them home. A lovely little place that I'm...
Read moreMy friend and I ordered a Carne Asada Burrito and Super Nachos. It was around 11pm after a show at the Greek Theater...You know, had a few drinks and at the point in the night where anything tastes good.
I have to say that this may have been the worst Mexican food I have ever tasted in my entire life...and I’ve had some bad Mexican food my days. No flavor, soggy...it was almost as if someone put all the ingredients from the burrito and put them in a blender, took all the flavor out, and then shoved it back in there to make it seem presentable. The nachos were microwaved and gloppy. WE EVEN PAID EXTRA FOR GUACAMOLE AND THEY WERE AWFUL. That’s how you know....
Long story short, don’t ever eat here. There’s even a Taco Bell next door that would be a better option. It’s even a Cantina so at least it’ll be nice inside.
Lovely...
