While I was in the bulk goods aisle, I placed my keys on top of a package of water to keep my hands free for using the dispenser. After a short time I realized I had not grabbed them, and when I returned to the aisle, someone had removed my keychain but left most of the keys behind. I promptly informed the clerks and the manager, but they seemed uninterested and said I needed to file a police report for them to act. A keychain may seem insignificant, but it's a custom-made one a group of us had made in the 1990s and quite valuable to me and would be expensive to have reproduced.
In contrast, when I lived in Boston, I experienced a much different level of service at Stop & Shop. I turned away from my cart to look at products on the other side of the aisle, and found my bag missing when I turned back. Security, having monitored the entire theft on surveillance cameras, had already apprehended the thieves before I reported my missing bag to customer service. I was impressed by their swift and proactive response, which quickly resolved the situation and highlighted their commitment to their customers.
I find it difficult to believe that the security at Wholefoods did not witness the theft of my keychain as stores are constantly monitoring for shoplifters, such as the Stop & Shop example. I also do not understand why the clerks and managers didn't bother to ask the security officers if they saw anything, which was what the Stop & Shop clerk did. It was possible that the person was still in the store as everything occurred in a very short window of time by the time I found my keychain missing. It appears that Wholefoods only cares if people steal from them but not from their customers.
This is a long shot, I've attached an image of the keychain. The keychain is rare and no one else in the Bay Area would have one. If anyone sees it,...
Read moreThis Whole Foods bakery is small, but their food items are just as good as the larger Whole Foods bakeries. There’s not really a lot of places to sit and eat, but there is also an outdoor area. My biggest criticism of this bakery is that even though the store is open till nine, it seems like whenever I go around six, most of the baked items are gone, and they’ve stopped putting things out. If you’re there during the...
