I was at the wawa on Franklin Avenue Purchasing some things from the store As I was getting into line a guy approached me and asked if I liked Caribbean jerk food? I said yes. He said there's a new restaurant called Seymour's. I said where he said in West Berlin. I said how's the food? How's the prices? He said good" I said I'm going right now literally. I said I have to pay my car note although, I'm going to wait first. I'm going to get me something to eat. I walked into the establishment. I noticed right off the back, the store was very clean & inviting.. If felt like I was walking into One of my relatives home. I was approached by a young lady that greeted me with a smile and a warm hello. She said, how can I help you?. She went over all the menu items, that they had she even gave me a sample of a jerk sauce making sure it wasn't too spicy it was good very tolerable. . If I have to say one negative, it was due to an unprepared item that wasn't made. They didn't have any Cornbread at that moment. Although the owner gladly stated the next time when I come in, he'll make sure he has it. My food was nicely packed in a Brown paper bag The Styrofoam container was Nicely packed perfectly.. I had napkins silverware and I had wet naps. As I paid for my food, I headed straight towards my car. I opened up my container and there it was heaven! I ordered jerk chicken rice and cabbage. The cabbage was on the money, the chicken nicely charred and grilled the sauce great! I'll be definitely be returning to Seymour's in West Berlin for more food. I'll try different things on the menu. Trying to support local businesses , keeping them Thriving! I started not to go to that wawa on Franklin Ave, but luckily I did. If not, I would've ordered everyday regular food from around the way. Glad I went to that...
Read moreI ordered at 9:00am one pan of barbecue chicken for an event I have tomorrow afternoon. I was told they were open until 7 o’clock and that I can come to the Berlin mart and pay for it prior to picking it up tomorrow at 3 o’clock. Upon arriving at the Berlin mart, I couldn’t find the place so I called and I was told to just come the day of to pay for it at their other location on Franklin Street and then pick it up fresh at the Berlin Mart. As I was already there at the Berlin mart to pay for it, I decided to locate the place so I know where to come back to pick it up tomorrow. Coincidentally, I bumped into the owner and I told him I was here to pay for food that I will be picking up tomorrow but was told now to just come tomorrow to the Franklin street location to pay prior. He was not professional! He told me although his staff told me they were open until 7pm today to pay, he would be too busy to fulfill my order of ONE pan for TOMORROW at 3:00pm. I called at 9:00 AM so I lost the whole day !! Then he rubbed it in further by telling me there’s no way your going yo find a place to accommodate you this late. I again reiterated that he is putting me in a very bad place and he still refused. He wasn’t going to start making the chicken until tomorrow I was there trying to pay!!
Funny thing is — I am an event planner and know many people in the area. This would have been great advertisement to bring his chicken to an event. But now he will definitely lose business because I will let everyone know. He does not honor what his staff committed to. Thank goodness the Wokery at the Berlin Shoprite was happy to make me a fresh pan of barbecue chicken in their beautiful fire grill for my event tomorrow!! She even said I can pay tomorrow!! There chicken is more...
Read moreLet me start by saying the owner of this place is an amazingly prideful person and cares alot in his business. The counter lady lacks customer service skills and doesn't care. It shows! Now truly who cares we are here for the food right? So here's my honest opinion and you can decide for yourself about this place.
I came in a week ago, they were busy which is a good sign. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich and the much talked about cheseesteak, for sides I ordered mac and cheese as well as mashed potatoes and to drink two 16oz Cokes. Both me and my brother agreed that the pulled pork and the cheseesteak were tasty but nothing out of this world and have both had better. The sides were both sub par and the mashed potatoes tasted instant! I would guess a 50/50 mix which is how some diners do them to save money. They were so bad in fact we tossed a full side in the trash. The mac and cheese was okay but definitely below my expectations for being a BBQ place. The sandwiches come with kringle cut fries which anyone that has been in the food business knows they are the 100% absolute cheapest fries you can purchase from a food supplier. The prices however are some of the highest prices you will find out of any BBQ place you visit in the south jersey area. The icing on the cake is when you are charging customers 20oz soda prices and writing 20oz on your slips but are really selling 16oz. Drinks. Come on now! Would I be back? No, not for $46 for 2 people. I definitely wish them well in this business but if you are going to charge the highest prices around at least use the highest quality products. Serving kringle cut fries and a 50/50 mix mashed potatoes can't possibly be the...
