Great wait staff. Food very, very good.

4/22/23-this is still my favorite restaurant in the Hanover area, but my experience today was not up to par. We were seated very quickly but we sat for 10 or 15 minutes before seeing our waitress. They were extremely busy tonight. Other than that our waitress was perfect the entire night. I did have some issues with my food tonight.

I ordered the French onion soup, but could not identify the soggy cheese on top. They're also was soggy semi-fried onion strings on top of the soggy cheese. The cheese was very thick and not crispy at all like you would typically get on French onion soup. My wife got the clam chowder special, which was outstanding tonight.

My wife and I both got side salads but the lettuce was completely different for each of us. Also the blue cheese dressing I had was thick as sour cream and not sure how it could be considered dressing.

My steak which I ordered medium came out rare and a little on the cold and dry side as though it was sitting for a little bit. I did not complain about my steak so I cannot complain that they didn't fix it. I had a side of seared scallops which I found to be overcooked. My other complaint, when the courses came out, they came out very quickly and on top of each other. I did take my steak home and will cook it correctly as leftovers.

Just ate here this evening for New Year’s Eve. I called over 2 weeks ago to make a reservation for 6 people and a baby. I get a phone call two days before Christmas asking me to change my reservation to an earlier time because they accidentally accepted another reservation that would conflict with mine. I called back and told them that the earlier time did not suit everyone in my party so they kept the same time. I get a phone call three days after Christmas asking me to call back and confirm my reservation. I called back and confirmed. I arrived there this evening and gave my name for the reservation and they didn’t have it. While I was speaking with my husband about it, the hostess overheard me complaining and interjected that they make a lot of mistakes and that there are four different hostesses that were making reservations for NYE, but that they would get us a table. Well, we got a table, right near the entrance where people were constantly coming in and out. The temps this evening were in the single digits and I had an 8 month old baby, which I told them about when I spoke with them THREE times prior to arriving for our dinner reservation. Unless you’re a regular or someone that they feel is important, then forget it...you’re SOL folks. A Birthday Bust * Reservations made for 85th birthday dinner for 3. First time visit, pleasantly greeted and sat on the enclosed porch area facing the fountain. First disappointment was Pepsi products served. For our appetizers we got two Salads and a Soup. Salad greens were placed in Green Pepper ring, one cucumber piece and one Cherry tomato sliced in half. Very salty French Onion soup topped with lots of cheese and crispy onion straws that obviously go on top of almost everything. Shrimp cocktail was good. Worst steaks, also topped with crispy onion straws removed them .... my 26 dollar Filet was ordered Medium Well, first one was Well Done, second one brought out was then Rare and Third was served perfect but tasted like a 5 dollar Aldi steak. By the time I got my 3rd steak everyone else was done with their dinners. My daughter's NY Strip was also tasteless. Bland tasting Baked Potatoes. Crab Cakes were the only thing that was worth the hour drive to get to C&D. Highly recommended by friends but very disappointed with the overall experience.
