We have driven past this place many times and and it looks nice from the outside. I had high hopes, especially given the reviews here. We finally stopped in for dinner tonight and were pretty disappointed. The inside is not as nice as the exterior ... more like a fast food Italian cafe, but the staff is friendly and the place is clean. However, the prices were a bit high, so I was expecting the food to be better than the ambiance.
I ordered baked ziti and my husband ordered stuffed shells. He got a Caesar salad and I got the house salad. Both salads were so-so at best. When my ziti arrived, I noticed that it was served in a very creamy rose sauce and was topped with a lot of cheese -- it looked good but not what I expected. There was no description on the menu, so I expected a standard ziti with marinara and cheese. I started to eat it, but after a few bites, it was just so heavy and creamy, I just didn't care for it. I told the server that I really didn't care for the ziti because of the creamy sauce. Since my husband had almost finished his food (which he said was "ok" ... not great), I told the server that I didn't want another dish, but would be glad to just pay for the salad and breadsticks because I didn't want to make him wait. After checking with the management, the server said that they would just have to make me another ziti! Most restaurants will comp your dinner if you don't like it (especially, if you just take a few bites of it). I didn't feel like making any more of a fuss, so I just asked if they could make it to-go. Five or ten minutes later, they brought me the re-made ziti, but it was just pasta in tomato sauce ... no cheese and not baked. I didn't want to wait any longer for them to fix it, so I just asked them for some cheese to go. So, all in all, this was not the best restaurant experience. I'm sure they have some great dishes and it's not a bad place, but I'm not a fan and we will...
Read moreI think this is typically a nice restaurant to visit from what I have heard, but this Christmas Eve was a disappointment. It was only my second time there & only a couple people at other tables at arrival. They did not tell us it was a hour & a half wait for a pizza when we arrived. After waiting 40 minutes, I finally asked how much longer because we wanted to attend the local church service. We had allowed a hour & a half for the restaurant so we would not be rushed or late, which we were in the end. My only complaint is that if there is a long wait, customers should be informed at the door. We deserve the right to decide if we want to wait or not. Even after telling the waitress that she should have told us that at the beginning, she seemed to not really care. In waiting for her to get a box, I went to the counter & asked the owner for a to go cup of sauce, just to speed things up a bit, and he told me to ask the waitress, who was now answering the phone holding our box. I had to take things into my own hands & retrieve the box so we could get things packed up. I understand things get busy & it was a holiday, but if I had known in advance, I would have called in a to go order because that was priority to them that night. Being in the restaurant business myself for over 12 years, I can say this is not a well oiled machine during busy times. Communication with your customers is very important. It is not worth taking their money that night under false pretenses just to get bad reviews and no service from them in the future. Ironically, I do not discourage you from visiting this restaurant, just know in advance that wait times may be longer...
Read moreWhoever’s responsibly is was to prepare the Shrimp Basket with fries I had and the order of fries my wife had with her Ham Boat, well all I can say it take that salt shaker away from them and NEVER, Ever give it back.
The fries were so salt laden they were not fit to eat, which was quite a shame at Gallo’s has some awesome frozen fries and they were done to perfection, golden in color BUT unfit to eat due to the extra heavy salt put on them. Cheyenne the waitress was told about this and her comment was next time tell us not to salt anything..Really… Later she did say she spoke with the owner who said Gallo will stop salting its food. The upsetting part is we did not eat 95% of the fries and never were asked if they could make us unsalted fries.
My wife ordered a Ham Boat with NO Oil or Vinegar..yea you guessed it, it had oil & vinegar on it and most of that was thrown away..again staff did not care and had nothing to say about it.
I ordered a 9-inch personal pizza with extra cheese and it was really good.
The restaurant was not busy; besides us there was one other table that was in the process of leaving. The waitress was not too attentive to her table of one, my wife had to hunt for the soda machine to get us refills, and then finally Cheyenne appeared and retrieved the sodas for us.
Gallo’s appears to be a very clean and spacious restaurant and could be a real hit but staff does not seem to care about customers needs nor do they care about their personal appearance with metal piercing stuck in her lip and facial area. Personally this is offensive to me and detracts from my dining experience at any food...
