Rachel's Cafe & Deli — Restaurant in Berwyn

I'm really curious where all these good reviews are coming from, because I feel absolutely ripped off. No wonder this place is empty and closed half the time. I don't even understand how it's open. The curb appeal is excellent, and was part of the draw for me, but anything even remotely excellent stops as soon as you enter the place. Worst panini I've ever had. It was hardly toasted at all, the meat was cheap deli meat and was extremely small portion. And I don't expect a heaping serving of meat, but this was a joke. It was overloaded with lettuce. They have pasta dishes and chicken parmesan but there's no way they aren't making that stuff from frozen if you take a look at the place it's dead in there, it is very obvious they get little business and that is for a good reason. I should have known better than to try this place but I wanted something I haven't tried before in the neighborhood. I'm actually a bit upset about wasting a meal on this disaster of a place. They clearly don't give a slightest of a care about their product or customers. This place deserves to go out...

I had this place initially rated high, but after my last visit, I’ve had to reconsider.

I ordered 2 sandwiches and a slice of pizza. We observed the employee get up from a game of cards with some friends to prepare our food without washing his hands. The pizza was also burnt and tasted as so.

I don’t believe I will provide this place my business again. This is the first time I’ve noticed the lack of hand washing. It may have occurred on the other visits as well but I’m not sure. I see that other reviewers mention burnt pizza as well. I don’t think a business should continue to sell a product...

I would recommend this restaurant to everyone, they are very people friendly, and caring. I recently had a emergency stop here, I’m a diabetic and my sugar was extremely low, I was half parked in front of Rachel’s Cafe & Delli, my daughter ran inside very irate and the staff here came outside to help us, and even provided me a free meal with a drink, to help bring my sugar up. At that point they were more concerned about my well being than money, and that really meant a lot to me. Also might add the food was EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!!
