I went to the Tastee Cafe about two weeks ago, and the service was horrible. There were two waitress, and neither of them greeted me. I finally sat myself, and the waitresses appeared to be annoyed and irritated that I was there; they did not bring me any silverware or water. I finally ordered a drink after waiting 10 minutes, and the waitress just dropped it off and proceeded to walk away without asking me if I was ready to order. I tried to flag her and her other coworker down, but they kept ignoring me. Finally, the younger waitress came over and she was confused as to why I was trying to get her attention until I reminded her that I had been sitting there for over 20 minutes without water. She took my order, and I don’t think she put it in right away because I had to wait another 40 minutes for a lukewarm sandwich. Once again, she dumped it in front of me, and she didn’t ask me if I needed anything, such as water, ketchup, utensils or napkins— I didn’t have any. Once I was done, I went to the back of the cafe by the register to pay my bill, and the waitresses both proceeded to walk past me and tend to other guests even through the place wasn’t that busy. Finally, my waitress rang me out, and she was trying to apologize for the service while trying not to laugh at the same time. Frankly, I don’t know what was so funny about making me wait over an hour for a sandwich. There were a lot of other customers that we upset with the service, and many of the families that came into the cafe didn’t bother to sit down because they weren’t greeted or served. I’ve been to the cafe before and had good experiences, but this experience was so bad that I had to speak up and say something. I’m going to take my hard earned money and spend it at some of the other...
Read moreHonestly disgusted and i didn't even get to try the food. I'm new to Berwyn. I've seen this place when i get off the metra coming home from work and had been excited to try. Well now i never will. I walked in at 630 and there was a young woman by the entrance who just finished waitressing a table. As she stepped away and was free, I ask her if i could just sit down. I'd never been before so i wasn't sure and i figure it's always better to ask. She said yes just sit down anywhere. I sit and wait to receive a menu but the staff act like i don't exist. There were 2 Latina servers and neither seem to have any interest in serving me. There are only two other tables so not super busy and the place is very small so I'm highly visible. The older Latina who worked there literally sat with white patrons at a table right next to me and had a long chat with them instead of serving me. At first i thought they might be upset that i came in within an hour of closing but then a white male came in after me (also by himself) and sat down and the same older Latina was super friendly with him, got him water, and took his order immediately. I was absolutely floored. Like do y'all only serve gringos or? I literally have no idea why i was ignored. I wasn't doing or wearing anything offensive. I really didn't do anything except sit down and wait (like i was literally told to do). It's really sad when it be your own people. I was happy to take my money elsewhere. Do not go here....
Read moreMy family and I have been dining here for the past 4 years and we’ve never had any complaints. Somehow today was different, I have never been so humiliated in my life. I am Bariatric patient so I order the kids breakfast all the time due to the portions.. I was told today by the waitress that I couldn’t order from the kids menu because I didn’t have a kid with me. I tried to explain to her that this is something that I always do when I dine there but she said I couldn’t (she’s a new employee). I tried to the explain to the owners that we are regular patrons and somehow this must be a mistake.. instead of listening to us the lady owner kept shaking her head no(I was told she didn’t speak English) and the male owner basically refused to accommodate me. I was willing to pay full price for my breakfast(money was not an issue and somehow they thought it was) I just can’t consume a lot of food at one time.. it was so humiliating to have to explain in the open why I couldn’t eat regular portions. Now everyone is staring at me, how awful. I’ve eaten at bigger restaurant chains and never had I ever had to explain the “reason why”. Next time show compassion to all people.. I wasnt asking for any special treatment and instead of listening to me, you made me feel like it was wrong.. never again will I dine here and I will Share this experience with others...
