Jack's Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Bessemer

My service was good, but food was not, I ordered two burgers and two fries for me and my wife, and I really dont understand why we got such stale old fries, I’m sorry but if the fries have been sitting their all day they need to be thrown out because, they tasted like flavorless hard cardboard. Jacks is known for their crispy seasoned fries but this locations employees just do the bare minimum. I’ve tried this jacks three times to see if it’s consistently bad or if it was just a bad night, each time I went It wasn’t busy at all like it normally is. I tried Breakfast, lunch, and dinner and man they all three equally suck, no flavor, nothing was hot or fresh, everything was just stale, hard, or, mushy, cold, and flavorless. Even my favorite breakfast meal was terrible, the biscuits and gravy. Bbq bacon cheeseburger terrible, chicken tenders hard as a rock, flavorless, and cold. i literally live 1min from this location so my takeout should not be cold every single time. I really wanted to like this place, because the service is generally great, atleast in the drive thru, plus it’s literally a min away from my house. Come on Bessemer/Hueytown can we step up the fast food? Like seriously it’s is the easiest job in the world, I literally do construction for a living that’s borderline rocket science to most folks, so I really don’t understand how a worker can be so bad at their job, it’s so easy, everything is already precooked and packaged for you, you have a perfect set up in the kitchen, tons of resources to make the flavor better, I mean your literally just assembling food and reheating food, and suppose to be seasoning the food, a step they tend to skip over. Not saying all the workers are bad, but this location needs to retrain or fire some employees, no excuse for sucking at your job when it’s this easy, that or have an option where customers can go in a designated area in the back away from employees and make their own food because this is a joke dude, I can Literally make better food then these guys, I can Literally make a breakfast sandwich and put dirt into the sandwich and season it and it’ll still taste better then the food here, not even a homeless man will eat this food, believe me I tried giving my food to one the other day and he said I’m not that starving man but I appreciate the offer. Bessemer step it up already, chickfila is literally the only fast food place that consistently tastes good in the whole city of Bessemer & Hueytown. I didn't eat there today but I'll share the story of how I ended up here today buying lunch. I haven't eaten here in about 5yrs since I worked at US Pipe foundry across 18/19th from Jacks and IIRC they've reconstructed the building since then but I didn't pay attention.

I went to Classic Burger for a bbq chicken sandwich for lunch. We finished work early so I figured a stop at Raceway gas station and jump on the interstate to head home. I was out front of the store smoking and noticed a geezer going up and talking to people. He finally got around to me and asked me "can you help me get a burger?" I replied that I didn't have any cash on me (which was true as I only had my card)

I went in the store and took my items to the counter to pay. While in line, I looked out and saw the man as asked what must have been the last two people left to ask. I could tell by the exchange that they declined him as well. It was about the time it hit me to use the card to buy him some food as the cashier totaled my items. I realized I'd left my card in the car. "BRB"

I ran to the car while trying to keep an eye out for which way the man went. I paid for my snacks and walked out heading to Jacks. I didn't see him anywhere as I walked through the parking lot and I went to the other side of the building. Just as I had given up and walking back to the Raceway next door, I'm guessing he saw me and came out of Jacks

"I'll just use my card" I hollered across the small parking lot. As we walked back to the door he said "can I get chicken instead?". "Sure". We wait in line for a min (lunch rush) and finally get to front. "Can I get a drink?" No problem I respond. So he grabs a 3pc, drink, mashed taters and green beans 😂

Total comes out to ~$10 and before I can pay the lady, she looks at the man and with a straight face says "If somebody is buying your food, you can at least be reasonable and not get carried away" I F'ing DIED 😂😂😂

Me and the geezer both got a laugh. He thanked me again and we parted ways. I hope he enjoyed the meal...

Well I had to put a star and they don't even deserve that morning shift wed. Of last week when it turned 5am they are supposed to be open and me and two others was out side waiting to be let inside when we stood there 15 min we waited and we noticed the drive thru steadily moving in and out so I decided to call the inside seeing the was not going to look out way and ignore or knocks, I asked the manager which looking at as I'm on the phone and politely asked her when was they going to allow anyone in the dine in area and we been standing out side waiting her answer was uhhhhmmmmm, idk not at the moment I then informed her we been out side waiting and will just wait for them to open the lobby, she then said well, okay....... So after the call ended we waited another fifteen then I noticed a young black lady at the other side, ya may wanna mention we are all three white so yes I went there I know if it was the other way around they'd go there, so the manager goes and let's this girl in and ignore us still kicking the door behind that lady so I'm furious and will let it be known about the discrimination of race is not prohibited we not once got ugly nor ride at all we was walking we couldn't eat sure to this that am. And it's not everyday we can enjoy a hot breakfast. I hope to hear from a higher authority very soon or he will hear from my lawyer if that's what...
