Although we have driven passed the Bethel Village Sandwich Shop dozens of times, the thought of stopping in Bethel to grab a bite to eat never crossed my mind having grown up in the town next door (Randolph). But on a dreary winter Monday afternoon, in torrential rain and with rumbling stomachs, and having passed through Randolph with little success of finding something open, we decided to give it a try. We pulled up to the curb next to two gentlemen taking shelter in a doorway to inquire if it was okay to park on the street. "As long as you come inside and get something to eat. I recommend the Vermont Cheesesteak Sandwich. And you might as well sit at the table next to the window in the back overlooking the falls - the river is raging." With 30 minutes before closing, we did as suggested and were not disappointed. Eugenia, who took our order, prepared the sandwiches, and delivered them to our table, was welcoming and personable. The shop, which consisted of multiple rooms meandering through contiguous buildings masked by several store fronts, was warm and comfortable - charming - and well stocked with wine.    Read moreThis sandwich shop is an absolute find! If you're passing through Bethel it's a great place to get lunch. They have an extensive menu but will make you pretty much anything you want in the way of sandwiches. The atmosphere is interesting: you are sharing space with a wine shop so there is lots to look at. Go all the way to the back room and sit at the table by the side window and you will be treated to one of the most romantic views of any restaurant anywhere. The folks behind the counter are extremely friendly and the prices make the experience a great deal. I can't say enough good things about this "find". It is my favorite sandwich shop and deserve the 5 star rating in...
