A true gem in a small town. For a NY native, Cockadoodle offers an excellent pizza experience, not to mention the other knockout qualities at this establishment.
Starting with the pies: Their crust is the most reliable meeting of crisp and doughy - a perfectly baked softness without compromising the strength to hold up whatever toppings your heart desires (and there are a ton to choose from). Build your own or pick a tried-and-true creation from their menu, with new and imaginative combinations sprouting up weekly. I still day dream about a weekly special called the Arrested Development.
Moving on to wraps and sandwiches! Excellent choices of classic combinations here as well as some nifty concoctions with unexpected ingredients married together for an ultimate lunch experience that will have a choir of angels singing every time your mouth opens for a bite.
The ice cream bar here is one of many unique features and offers some truly wonderful flavors. Definitely check out the pumpkin ice cream when fall hits. They make fantastic milkshakes!
In addition to the eclectic food menu, the owners have a small, yet carefully curated selection of beers and non-alcoholic drinks. Voodoo Maple Bacon Ale and Virgil's Root Beer immediately come to mind.
If you choose to dine-in, you'll be surrounded by sometimes bizarre but nonetheless interesting artwork from local talent on the walls and tables around you. And, if there's something that tickles your fancy, you can buy it before you go!
All-in-all, Cockadoodle Pizza Cafe not only offers amazing food, but a very special experience, to boot. On your way out, make sure to grab a giant chocolate chip cookie (or two)...
Read moreSince the new owners have taken over I haven’t made it a point to stop by as much - mostly because we don’t live as close, anymore but also because each time has just been “ok”. Until recently. I called on a Wednesday afternoon to order pizza ahead of time to bring to the concert on the green in town - Cockadoodle actually provides pizza there but we have found that it takes a ridiculous amount of time and they aren’t prepared for the amount of people watching and how much pizza they have available. I looked at the menu online and decided to order a large pizza and the RB melt panini. Upon that request the girl on the phone told me that wasn’t on their menu. I explained that it was - she asked me to hold while she asked. Then returned and continued to tell me it wasn’t on the menu. I read her the menu and she asked …again. Finally she told me it wasn’t even called the RB melt - but the RE melt - what is RE? Then she said “we aren’t doing any sandwiches anymore” …I know this isn’t true and I just decided to cancel my entire order. I’ll continue to go to village pizza. I don’t think asking for the employees to know the menu at their restaurant is too much. I also would have preferred a better reason for not being able to make...
Read moreTheir incompetence is staggering. Ordered online for pick up at 5. Got there right on time and tried to call for curbside but the phone was continuously busy. Went up to the door and was told the food would be right out. 10 minutes later after being ignored twice I was told again that it’d be right out, another 10 mins and then was told that it was not ready. Finally 30 mins after it was supposed to be ready I was finally given the food.
**Response to Owner:
I did see that you had refunded my money and I had planned to come back on here and retract my review. But since you wanted to open it up for debate, here we go.
First, let me say that my intention in writing my review was not to get a refund. However, I do appreciate it. It was to call attention to the terrible service that I received. My upset was not caused by being asked to wait. I understand that businesses get busy and sometimes things happen. My issue was with the fact that I was not actually asked to wait, in fact I was basically lied to and ignored while I watched multiple other people (one of whom I heard mention that she was early for her order) received attention and food before me. No matter how you spin it that is not a good way to...
