After a long afternoon of kayaking, our party of six was ready for a nice meal. Cho Sun’s food was good enough the first time that we decided to give it another try. We were very disappointed. I am not sure if it was because we were dressed casually or because we had minorities in our party but we were bypassed by the hostess to the party that came after us. When that party said we came first then she turned her attention to us. After we were seated we promptly ordered our food, they did not offer us the free dishes of kimchi they did last time so we asked for it. They came back with 3 little dishes, enough for a party of two, except we had 6 people. We asked for more then they said, “Sorry we didn’t know if you would like it. We can bring you more”. How cheap. After the rough start, we waited for our food...and waited... and waited. After an hour we went to check on our order, we hunted down a waitress, she said she check. Never came back. Then hunted down the hostess, she said she check but never came back either. Meanwhile we could see them checking on other patrons on the other side of the deck, deliberately ignoring us. After an hour of waiting and no updates or apologies, we were about to get up and leave the restaurant, then the food finally came out!! The food wasn’t bad again(3 stars) but a half hearted apology saying the kitchen was really busy. As we ate, no one checked on us like they were checking on other patrons, we literally had to yell across the restaurant to get their attention for our check. As a business owner myself, I know how important customer service is, this restaurant failed greatly. Its a shame because we have a new place up here and was looking forward to good Korean food. We generally tip over 20% but left them with $0 tip for the first time ever. We will never come...
Read moreI was hesitant to leave this review as I came with a large party, but after going through other reviews I can see that subpar service is the norm here. We got the vibe that the waitress felt very bothered by us pretty immediately. It took 45 minutes for those who ordered appetizers and another 30-45ish after that to get our entrees (8 out of the 10 people ordering ordered sushi!) and when they did come out they were incredibly small portions. My belly said I could’ve eaten 3x that food, my wallet however, disagreed. 3 pretty simple rolls (alaskan, spicy salmon, tofu roll) was over $40. Their website is also up and running but apparently defunct. It advertised a Wednesday special that did not exist. To top it off, a woman of the establishment came into the dining room with three puppies in her arms and showed them to dining customers/let them hang out in the dining room and around food for a while. While the human in me was very excited, the service worker in me immediately recognized that this is very much against food safety regulations. These pups barely seemed to be able to keep their eyes open and were long haired. It all simply reeks of unprofessionalism and I would feel embarrassed working here with the lack of flow/organization going on. We ended up being treated to the meal by members of our party, but I don’t think I’d return again, even if I wasn’t paying for it. Xvault in west paris has good sushi,...
Read moreAfter it was recommended by the innkeeper at our B&B (Holidae House--great establishment), we tried Cho Sun. The food is great. Neat decor--furnishings are attractive. Convenient location in downtown Bethel. They (like most places) seem understaffed as we and other guests had to wait for tables to be bussed in order to be seated on a Wednesday night later in the evening. Menu reads that BiBiMap is supposed to be mixed tableside, but is not served this way. Prices are high for the area and portion sizes. "Try Le Mu Eats or Kowloon Village for great food at more reasonable prices," suggested another merchant in Bethel after I informed them I'd been to Cho Sun. Our server, a younger red-haired gentleman was knowledgeable, efficient, and friendly. The other server was not so personable--seemed annoyed about something as she set about sluggishly wandering around the restaurant. The Gamja Bokkeum appetizer was the best thing we had, but we both cleaned our entree plates and enjoyed every bite!! They were out of spring rolls(!!), upon noodles (!!), and duck (!!); is this not a Korean restaurant!? Prepare to spend at least $100 for two people to eat, especially if you plan on cocktails. Two entrees and an appetizer ran nearly...
