Williams Spanish Restaurant — Restaurant in Bethlehem

Last Friday, my husband and I decided to try this restaurant based on a review that was posted the day before in the local newspaper. The writer obviously loved this place so we were curious. We were not disappointed! William's Spanish Restaurant gets 5 stars from us because of the excellent service we received, the quality of the food, the value and authenticity of each dish and the fun, casual local atmosphere with Spanish music in the background. When you see a constant flow of local Spanish customers, you know this food is legit. This lovely family is from Puerto Rico and they obviously have a passion for serving the flavors of home in appetizing homemade dishes. Just so we could get a taste of everything, the owner graciously came up with a sampler platter of the meats available that day, awesome roast pork, tender baked chicken, rib stew, fall off the bone baked ribs, beef stew and bacalao along with a generous helping of tender yellow rice in the center, more than enough for two people. We added a shrimp empanada and a delicate dish of cassava with warmed red onions. We then topped all of that off with 4 desserts, an excellent very rich tres leches cake, cheese flan, coconut flan and a dense flavorful bread pudding. Obviously, we had not had a thing to eat all day before going to William's restaurant! It was a lot of awesome food. We brought our own bottle of wine and the tab came to less than $30. On January 5th, I ordered 2 epinadas and stewed chicken with rice and beans. I ate some when I returned to work. That was the ONLY food I had that day. An hour or two after I ate, I felt light headed and nauseous and then the diarrhea came🥴. I went home and got in the bed with a fever and chills. I had diarrhea the whole weekend. I went to the ER and it was determined I had food poisoning. I also had a CT scan because of the excruciating pain in my abdomen. I had inflammation of my colon due to infection (salmonella). I went to the restaurant today and spoke with "Chris", the owner's wife and she was in denial about what happened to me and stating I'm the only one that got sick and that you can't get salmonella from chicken. She also threw her medical credentials in there. She's a medical assistant. I told her you DO get salmonella from chicken and I also told that I am a nurse. Chris was insensitive about my ordeal. Bottom line, I wasn't offered any compensation not even the eight dollars I spent on the food. I have eaten here plenty of times and I’ve gotten different foods from this place. One time I got the pork stew with white rice and when I sat down to actually eat for lunch, the pork was still raw inside. When I called to talk to the manager, they offered for me to come get another one, but obviously I couldn’t cause I was at work and so there was nothing that could be done. Today I get the chicken stew with white rice and I sit down to eat for lunch. I mix the stew with the rice so I can have the juices on the rice and there’s a piece of Metal a thin piece of metal so I called to speak to the manager, but I’m told that they’re not there they won’t be until 12 and when I tell the gentleman on the phone, what happened they know nothing about it.
