Curry Pizza is like a magical dream pizza shop that appears in a mirage-- in the middle of nowhere. You should absolutely eat here. The pizza is borderline mind-blowing in palate expanding ways.
We were in the middle of a road trip and had just left Capital Reef in search of groceries. The town we were staying in had no groceries, so we decided we were too tired and would maybe just order pizza, but the pizza shop was closed. We reluctantly drove to the next town in search of groceries when my wife decided to hop on Yelp and found Curry Pizza.
I was against it at first. It sounded like a bad ending to a wonderful day of adventure, who in their right mind would make curry pizza....well, I gave in and said I'd give it a shot.
Upon arrival, we met Mike Riddle who was both unexpected and awesome. The cooks that made and brought out our pizza are master artisans and very nice.
After some debate we settled on half Honey Curry and half Butter Chicken. The Honey Curry was mind blowing and the Butter Chicken was really good. We saved half the pizza for Roadtrip breakfast pizza per Mike's suggestion and effective reasoning in ordering a Large.
As we waited for our pizza, several locals came in, noticed we weren't from around there, and recommended the Bhinda Special. We were a little sad we didn't order it, so we decided we would head back to Oregon with our final dinner in Utah would include include visiting another location and ordering half honey curry and half Bhinda with breakfast pizza leftovers.
What a dynamite combo! We absolutely love the honey curry (after a second time) as well as the Bhinda. Both are delicious and the Bhinda is enjoyably complex.
The only thing that could be more amazing is if Bhinda opened a location in Portland, Oregon, and preferably in the Sellwood neighborhood-- seriously, Portland is a great food city and we would love...
Read moreI was driving to Torrey, Utah (Population: 316) late one evening in June 2021 and least expected to find an Indian-Italian fusion pizza place in Bicknell, Utah (Population: 234 (as of 2019) 😊). So imagine my surprise to find this gem of a restaurant (in should I say, near the middle-of-nowhere 😊). But most importantly, the fusion pizzas (e.g. the paneer curry pizza) were absolutely amazing!! To my further surprise, they also had authentic Indian dishes - I had Mushroom Mutter (peas), Aaloo-Gobi (potato, cauliflower) and garlic naan. The taste of all of these specialities reminded me of the food I had in the Punjab and Agra region in India, 30 years ago!
It was so good that in my week-long trip to Utah, I modified my travel plans and visited the place again, this time taking with me several friends (who greedily went through all the food within minutes - so in reflection, perhaps not a wise decision?). During this visit I also got to meet the owner, Mr. Bhinda Singh (featured on Guy Fieri's show on the Food Network) who is a gem of a person and offered us free peach lassis (buttermilk drink) in addition to free advise on avoiding close encounters with the Utah wildlife (as we still had a 2-hr long night drive ahead of us). I try to visit Utah every year for the outdoors and will definitely visit Curry Pizza again! I find it unfair that the East coast should be deprived of such good food and wish they opened one in Delaware - hey, one can always hope, right?
In sum, if you crave for super tasty food (authentic or fusion), do yourself a favor and include Curry Pizza in your itinerary!
P.S. if it helps, I grew up in India and am a self proclaimed connoisseur of flavorful, tasty food, regardless of its geographic and...
Read moreI stumbled on this place when camping outside Capitol Reef, and have stopped here annually ever since. I've ordered the Small Cheese Pizza, Mango Habanero Wings, Butter Curry with Chicken, Tikka Masala with Chicken, and Garlic Naan. I've loved everything I've ordered. The crust for the pizza is thin and crispy, and they use a sweeter sauce. I've also tried their Indian-inspired pizzas and love 'em, although it's best when shared. The wings are the highlight for me because they're large and juicy, and the non-sauced options have an excellent crispy skin. The mango habanero is a sweet and spicy option, but I was starting to feel the heat by the last wing. Definitely a great option if you like a little heat. The curries are great, but because the other items are so unique, I typically try to pick something off the beaten path (I've had the curry pizzas at their Lehi location).
The service is always top notch. It can be tough to understand the accents, but that adds to the experience for me. It's not a large dining room, but I've never struggled getting a seat around dinner. And it's nice to have the option to eat inside or out. The only annoyance I've had is they add a service charge to your order, and it's already a pricey place. But I can let it slide since it's a small town place and was featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives.
I took my picky 8-year-old here, and after eating the cheese pizza, he exclaimed "Five stars!" Given this is my go-to spot when I'm passing through Wayne county, I...
