We got in at about 7:15 because we were looking for a place we could bring our dog and they were listed online as having a year round patio that was dog friendly. When we got in they informed us that the patio was closed because they didn’t have enough servers. So we put the dog in the car and went in for dinner.
The bar was very busy due to St. Patrick’s Day events they had happening. We sat in the dining room which was practically dead. There were 2 waitresses serving 5 tables, including our own.
The waitress was fast to bring over bread and took our drink orders. We waited a long time for our drinks and at some point the waitress came over and made a comment she was surprised we didn’t have drinks yet. She went to check on our drinks and we asked for more butter. She name back a few minutes later and said the bar had lost the ticket for our drinks. No butter. We told her our drink orders again and my fiance switched to a different drink on the menu. She came back shortly later with our drinks, still no butter, and realized that she had our drinks plus the one my fiance originally ordered from the ticket that got lost. She offered it to the table next to us.
She came back a bit later to take our order. Still no butter. I was going to order the steak but she warned me that someone else had just complained that it was too tough. So I ordered something different. But I feel like if there is a problem with a menu item, the chef should be made aware and it should be corrected, instead of warning people away from that menu item. We asked for more butter again. She said she’d be right back with it.
We waited a very long time for our food. It took about an hour and in that time we did not receive our butter. We did see the host and the other waitress get into a very loud and heated conversation in the middle of the dining room about how the waitress got shafted on sales for the night because she wasn’t busy enough. During this conversation another employee came by to ask if either of the ladies had seen an item that a customer had lost and the waitress literally shoved him away because she wasn’t done talking. He left to ask other employees, and we still didn’t have any butter.
At around 8:30 we started to debate canceling our order and leaving, but then our food came out so we stayed. There was no butter but we decided against asking again.
The food was VERY GOOD. We ate quickly, paid our bill and left at about 8:55.
To summarize, we each ordered 1 drink and 1 entree and it took well over an hour and a half for us to get in and...
Read moreWords can not describe how perfect the chef had made our two plates. One was; meatloaf wrapped in bacon with rice pilaf and ((mixed steamed, I believe)) veggies. And the other was; medium well steak tips with mashed potatoes and again, the same veggies. The veggies came with broccoli, onions, carrots and red peppers. The mixture was phenomenal. The meatloaf wrapped in bacon was to die for as I would put it. Succulent and juicy, not dry at all. Cooked with a slight crisp on the edges. No pink, in the middle which was great too! The steak tips were cooked correctly, which is super awesome. I dont like when you go to a restaurant and they are unsure of how to properly cook your meat to your liking. Even though we ordered it medium well, it was still nice and juicy, tender, but cooked all the way through, just the way we like it! The mashed potatoes where actually mashed, which is great. No one likes a chunky mashed, haha. And they were nice and creamy, soft, and had just the right amount of butter and a slight seasoning to add to the flavor! Also, we had orderd the pretzel bites. I believe it was suppose to come with some sort of dipping sauce. But when it came down to this one minor mishap, that they forgot or maybe I was suppose to ask for it, who knows? Either way the perfectly sea salted and lightly buttered, very soft pretzel sticks where absolutely delicious. Never had a better baked pretzel and I'm not joking!! Even if the sauce was suppose to be included, I probably wouldn't of used it anyways. The pretzels were perfect as is and didn't need all that extra jazz, anyways.
Enough about the food, the service was amazing too, couldn't have been better! All of the people I encountered during my short stay to receive my to-go order, were more than helpful.. the two waitresses. The chef. The bartender. And i believe maybe the kitchen manager, as it appeared in my opinion. Everyone was upbeat, smiling, friendly, and very helpful! They made sure I had all my utensils, napkins, salt and pepper and my ketchup as a condiment. The smiles and beautifully rich atmosphere is what really did me in, to top it all off...following after such great food and service! Too bad there is not an "Emerald Rose" near my hometown. ...Looks like we will be visiting Billerica just for this sole reason! Well a big, bright, shiny five star rating is in order for this phenomenal restaurant. Again. Thank you to all whom have helped me with preparing our lunch today. Your awesome and deserve a nice pat...
Read moreOn Easter Sunday, my husband and 2 adult children went to this restaurant for dinner. Our reservation was for 1:45 and we were promptly seated at 1:30. Our waitress never introduced herself and was less than pleasant. We got our drinks and our appetizer in a timely fashion, however we cannot say the same about our meals. After waiting for over an hour, we decided to pay our drink/appetizer bill and leave. What was most upsetting, however was the service (or should I say lack thereof). While I do understand it was Easter, when we attempted to inquire as to the status of our meal, the hostess at the front desk rudely said 'you will need to ask your server'. We would have loved to have asked our server if we could have found her! She came by once to take another drink order and was never seen again. She never came back to our table to inform us of the status of our meals or to apologize for the length of the time that we had been waiting.
Before we left, I spoke to the manager Robert, who after I explained to him what had happened, presented me with a 20 percent off card for our next visit. There will never be a next visit, therefore, this card is useless. Good customer service on behalf of a manager would have been offering to pay our $66.00 drink/appetizer bill.
The rudeness of the front desk hostess and the total lack of concern on behalf of the waitress is inexcusable no matter how busy the restaurant was.
This used to be a good restaurant as I have been there in the past. Something has changed.
We had no Easter dinner due to the Emerald Rose. We will...
