They were wonderful, the atmosphere was very laid back and inviting. Would be a great place to grab a coffee and study or work on a paper (many people were). The employees were stellar, and the service was awesome! A friend of mine has a strange diet due to health reasons and she asked about the drinks and opted for water. After she paid he asked her what she was hoping and looking for concerning drinks so that they could better serve people later. I absolutely love that, and so did she because often she feels judged for things of that sort, or feels like a bother, so it meant a lot. We both got a ham and cheese croissant and had them warmed up, and I had an iced coffee. The bread was amazing and the coffee was where I didn't even need sugar or anything. The drink menu was full of options. But the food menu wasn't, (which I didn't mind because that's not the real goal of a coffee shop) however, we went for a early lunch so I don't know about later.
If you don't know, they have board games and old video games lining the walls that you can challenge a friend to while you enjoy your coffee. It was really nice because it kept us engaged and off our phones. They had music playing that was just loud enough that it feels like unless you try, you are in your own space with your group or self and it's really nice. I couldn't hear anyone's video games or anything until I wanted to...
Read moreI would normally rave about this place. It has a great vibe with a cohesive and welcoming atmosphere. There are stacks of board games, video games and tons of space for you and your friends to hang out. The staff is normally friendly and helpful so after visiting Alabama last year with such a great coffee shop experience, I was excited to revisit Domestique Coffee today.
I went up to the register to ask for a breve latte with cinnamon powder, which is my favorite. I was immediately told by the staff member that they can't use half and half for a latte. I was confused and let out a quick, "Is it physically impossible, because I make one every morning?" which I do admit was a little snarky. The person staring back at me, unphased by my remark, filled me in that it would be too expensive to allow. The lovely employee proceeded to tell me my other only options.
I was defeated and could only remark, "Oatmilk I guess."
Sorry for the cinematic details. I say all this to ask, Domestique Coffee, will you please add a breve button on your super star employee's screen so that they don't feel like their customers are trying to steal money from them. Please charge what is necessary so that next time I can have my favorite coffee without causing grief. Thank you and many blessings to your business...
Read moreI don't expect perky out of everyone by a long shot, but the folks working the counter for tea and coffee could use an attitude upgrade (and maybe some coffee, but I digress). The bartender was moderately friendly and far more smashed with the customers and I didn't even order a cocktail. Think I'll hit the bar next time, since the hot tea was mediocre at best anyway. Also, no real sugar to be found anywhere for the tea. The whole experience was pretty meh for my first visit, so I'm not sure I'll go back but it was worth trying the only coffee shop left...
