This is a cozy little coffee shop in a very beautiful Birmingham neighborhood. It’s nestled away from the hustle of the city activity so it’s a very relaxed atmosphere.
When you step into the shop you feel as if you’ve been transported back in time. The decor is old English and has a historic feel to it.
There are many flavors and variations of coffee available to choose from. The baristas were so knowledgeable about the products and were eager to make suggestions when needed.
There are several seats inside as well as tables outside to sit and study alone or enjoy a coffee with friends. There is a Mexican restaurant right next door that has super fast service and good food, along with spirits.
Disclosure: one of the baristas at O’Henry’s is my son. I realize I am biased in saying that he is very personable, has great energy and makes the best iced lattes! 😉
Aaliyah was working alongside Garrett the day I came in and upon asking about the blueberry iced latte, she shared that she had made herself and white chocolate iced blueberry latte and really enjoyed it. So I ordered that very drink and it was DELICIOUS!
I always want to give honest reviews with integrity. With that being said, I forewarned my son that I would have to take one star off the review for the lack of more cleanliness in the shop. The mirrors behind the coffee syrups were dirty and the wooden mantel needed to be dusted.
Aside from that, I absolutely loved everything about my first visit at O’Henry’s and definitely...
Read moreApplied there and scheduled a phone interview, which i thought went well. I was told i'd hear back from the manager within 48 hours. I finally got a voicemail after 5 days (i missed the call because the manager has an out of state number and i assumed it was spam.) After finally scheduling a follow up interview face to face, I immediately got bad vibes. The manager sounded like they were bored and disinterested the entire way through, and just replied 'so true, so true.' to anything i said. They also made a face when I said i'd be completely available on Sundays, and seemed to shut down entirely. I found some former employee statements saying that the manager/owners were religious, but i didn't think me not attending church would have any effect on the hiring process. The manager then told me I'd hear back from them in 48 hours about whether or not I got the job. I never got a response. The thinly veiled rudeness and unprofessionalism was not at all what i was expecting, especially considering how compassionate and sophisticated the company makes...
Read moreI just left OHenry’s that is next to Rojos. I had to do some work for a client on my laptop and needed to get away from my home for a bit. Sophie was the only barista working there. She was super sweet and prompt in her service. I ordered a chocolate chip frappe with lots of whipping cream (and she put in a lot for me just like I asked! Thank you)! And a blueberry muffin. Ambience was great. Good internet connection. And I also asked for an ice water and Sophie refilled mine for free twice. She is so sweet! I appreciated her hospitality! Their toilets are currently not working, so management needs to fix it. I felt bad telling Sophie my #1 didn’t flush. She is so amazing and super nice with me and all the other customers I saw her taking care of. OHenry’s, Please give Sophie a raise. My 30% tip wasn’t enough. She is so...
