Kroll's Diner — Restaurant in Bismarck

lots of options, good service, quick service and seating, lots of seating options, affordable with big portions and a generous senior citizen discount/seniors only menu (that I'd be willing to bet our server would have allowed any members of our party to use the discount menu if we'd asked. We didn't, but she was an absolute delight, and accommodated our other substitution requests with no objections or upcharges.

My lovely wife ordered entirely off of the a la carte and our server put together an impromptu 'combo' not on the menu just to save us money, and she did so unprompted, we didn't even notice until seeing the bill was lower than anticipated.

The food, in addition to large portions, was excellent. It seems like it's getting harder and harder to find a place that can properly fry an egg over medium properly, yet three were spot on, and as a vegetarian for whom eggs are not only delicious but one of my ONLY sources of complete protein and certa I'min amino acids, I've craved eggs my entire life; the body knows what it needs! I took my leftovers to go (filled up early on a delicious but in retrospect wholly unnecessary Oreo malt) and plan to reheat either later on our trip back to America's beating, vital heart (St. Paul/Minneapolis, the Twin Cities of Minnesota). Minnesota is actually FAMOUS for our our great customer service and there was no drop off in level whatsoever, which is not something I can say about everywhere I visited in ND this trip.

TL;DR: Good food, outstanding service, affordable, great selection. Will patronize this establishment again next year when I make...

My wife and I ate at Kroll's Diner on 12/11/2017 at the 1915 E Main Ave location in Bismarck, ND and the food was the worst food I have ever had at a restaurant. We will never go back to that location again and will not recommend that Kroll's to anyone. We have been to other Kroll's locations and the food was great. My roast beef was black and burnt but it was cold and my corn was cold, and my mashed potatoes and gravy was barely warm. The gravy was lumpy. I informed the server and she took it and brought it back with barely warm gravy poured over the top of the same exact burnt, black, cold roast beef that was on my plate before and just tried to cover it up with lumpy barely warm gravy. I again informed my server and stated I don't want anything else as I didn't feel like eating at that point and just wanted to leave. My wife's food was also barely warm. I order the steak and eggs, scrambled, with pancakes. The eggs were cold cold cold and not scrambled, rather was a yolk-y omlette type thing, folded over and quite greasy. The steak was gray in color and did not taste fresh. Pancakes are my favorite breakfast dish, and the main reason I wanted to try this place but was very dissatisfied. I am not a fan of syrup, but used some to try to make my pancakes not so dry. One side as borderline over-cooked, making them crispy in texture and contributed to the burnt taste of them. Having such an experience with 3 basic breakfast items, I am not interested in trying anything else from the menu. Left not feeling the best after only a few bites.
