We hired Carrie and her team to cater our wedding, and overall our experience was mixed. The shop itself is lovely, always welcoming, staff always willing to help and super friendly, and the drinks are pretty good. Our tasting for the wedding was phenomenal despite the low price tag, which made us feel very confident in choosing Rev as our wedding caterer. Planning the food for our big day was great and Carrie fully understood our vision which reassured us after being burned by a sketchy caterer just weeks earlier. Two weeks before our wedding when we were due to pay for the service, we were informed it may be difficult to staff our wedding properly unless we pay the "suggested gratuity" ahead of time. We were informed that the gratuity would be held at the owner's discretion, which lowered our confidence that the staff would be tipped. We feel that it would have been helpful if the tip was instead listed as a labor charge or a service fee in our invoice rather than gratuity to avoid confusion, as we wanted to be able to assess service fully before tipping. We also were not given a contract, and were told they do not give contracts for their services. Our rehearsal dinner was okay overall. The timing on food was awkward and guests were not sure what they could and could not eat. We have been retroactively assured that there was enough food for everyone so there was no need for worry, but a few of our guests were confused. The flourless chocolate cake was so delicious and they always do an amazing job with this one spaghetti squash dish with feta and tomatoes that I'm obsessed with! Our wedding day's food received mixed reviews by our guests. Our charcuterie board seemed to be received very well and folks enjoyed the snacks before dinner. Unfortunately one of the drinks that we requested for the portable espresso machine was missed (we had paid for the Johnny Appleseed menu option but only got apple cider). We were also told by guests after the fact that the apple cider was unavailable for about a half an hour, and they had to wait that long for their drinks. The cappuccino I received was a latte (no foam). For our wedding dinner, we heard several times from family that the paninis were a little soggy and not grilled very well, lacking enough cheese and pretty dry (my husband and I can confirm this). The soup was cold by the time members of my immediate family were dismissed to get in the buffet line and they were one of the first tables. We have spoken to Carrie about our mixed experience at length and although both parties (being Rev, and my husband and myself) are disappointed with how the service was received, we would still definitely stop into the shop whenever we're in the area. My husband and I are happy that we were able to support a small business in planning our wedding, and we hope these comments are beneficial to Rev and assist future couples in conversations with Rev about how their big day will be catered. Thank you Carrie and staff for your dedication to our wedding and beyond despite...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePeaceful environment, quaint and cleanly hip. What you would expect from a Coffey shop, atmospherically, and done properly. Nice bar area and more then sufficient selection of menus. I didn't have the wine so I can't contest, but I will be back to try. I found WiFi at a reasonable speed for a rural town. Remember, some of the best locations throughout the world don't have digital services, so I am impressed. See my photo. I ordered a Brave' and they knew what that was, and made it vary well. YUM great hot beverage on a sollom Smarch (is it morning?) Their breakfast bowl was and is a delight, full tummy, and with good manor I will need to leave a bite. There aren't many places to simply relax and reflect in this area, unless your within natures abound. I would be glad to give this a 5 star but I knocked off one half a point for the slightly slower internet and the fact I did drop a call. I know "entitled and privileged snoot!" Waaaa, poke me in the nose. The only thing this place is missing is a few games and a bike rack. Although I did see a couple playing cribbidge. Oh yea the prices were exactly what I expected for a nice meal and good surroundings. If you don't mind celebrating yourself, you will find it...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe stopped for the night in Black River Falls and were fortunate to stop at this gem for our breakfast on our way out of town. It was December and the place felt like a scene out of a holiday movie-- cozy and decorated, and they were collecting gifts to give to seniors that were wrapped up and placed around little trees. So I was dazzled before I even placed my order. The lady who helped us was the perfect addition to this story; she was friendly and charming, just what I'd expect in that holiday movie (think Hallmark small town movie - I felt like the big city girl being charmed into moving to Black River Falls, WI). Anyway, the coffee flavors offered were inventive and fun, and my husband and I tried different flavors-- and they were delicious. We ordered egg & ham sandwiches which were grill pressed, and those were also excellent. The egg was well cooked (not dry or weird like it sometimes is on sandwiches), and the ham was thick cut and tasty. Overall-- just a very charming experience and memorable enough that I'm writing about it over a month later as I prepare my next trip through this area with intentions of...
