Highly recommend Super Street Tacos. Stumbled across this place earlier this year and it has become a go-to anytime in passing by on the Interstate.
First, when you pull up to this place, you'll be thinking the same thing I did. What am I getting myself into and is it even open? It looks like an unremodeled street side burger joint from the 1950s. But don't panic, tell your wife and kids it's going to be okay. Find a place to park in their gravel parking lot. If you can figure out where you are supposed to park, you are doing better than me. I just pull up wherever. On your way in check out the menu on the wall. I recommend the street tacos. I've tried many of them and they are all great, but Pastor and Carne are my favorites. Load them up with all the toppings. My daughter is vegetarian and loves the veggie tacos.
Head inside and place your order. The workers do have a thick accent. I feel bad that at times I can't understand them but smile and point when I'm not sure. Sorry to all my Spanish teachers from middle school through college, my speaking skills are limited to Yo quiero Taco Bell.
Definitely order the churros. Ask them to bring them out about 15 minutes after the food so they are still nice and warm. You'll thank me later.
I've eaten here 4 times in the last few months even though I live several hours away. It's pretty good stuff for the area. Make sure you go check it out because I want this place to stay open! If you disagree with my recommendation then we probably can't be friends, and you can go eat your bland chain...
Read moreServing select, most favored food items at a moderate price. Their burrito, the last thing I ate there, ordered "California-style" with potato, was delicious and left me stuffed! Beef's head is an interesting feature on their menu as well as an extra-fruity pineapple al pastor. Barbacoa was also on the menu recently, however, it was written on the board with marker, rather than printed with the rest of the menu, so it may or may not be a permanent recipe available in their kitchen.
I only give two stars for "atmosphere" because sometimes, when you walk in, the kitchen staff will be chatting non-stop spanish until they notice you at which point they go totally silent and then creep their eyes at you from the doorway until they realize you staring back at them 😅😅 Extremely unsettling hopefully is not an issue any more because this happened many moons ago. I revisited recently because hey why not and was pleased to be in and out fairly quickly. Lots of spanish-speakers talk about you in spanish, however, wherever you go because, most likely, it's assumed most can't understand what they're saying and I guess it's just a type of behavior that was accepted when they were raised.
Oh, what a...
Read moreSo, so good & worth the stop! A tiny, unassuming place with VERY limited indoor seating but plenty of outdoor seating in the back, I got my meal to go. Authentic Mexican food that is fresh and delicious, I got the street taco platter which comes with 4 tacos & rice/beans, and you are able to choose 4 different meats for the tacos if you want, and corn or flour tortillas (go with the corn, one of the better corn tortillas I’ve had in awhile). I went with chicken, al pastor, barbacoa & lengua. All 4 were delicious. The chicken was maybe slightly salty if I’m being picky, but good flavor. The al pastor had huge chunks of meat & chunks of pineapple that were so good, the lengua tasty & tender, but the barbacoa was my favorite! The rice & beans were pretty standard but you get a huge helping! Not that I needed more food, but I had to try some chips & queso and they did not disappoint either, chips were fresh & the 3oz queso helping was perfect. I’m already craving more tacos just typing this, make the stop! I also love that the tacos come on a paper plate, not fancy at all but the quality of the food def...
