Melissa's Custom Cakes — Restaurant in Blairsville

Unfortunately I never had a chance to try anything because the customer service is terrible. I called to order a graduation cake for my granddaughter. The person that answered said Melissa would call back, but after a week she never did. I called them again only to find out she’d be out of town. Obviously she couldn’t be bothered to let me know. On another occasion my husband went in to see if he could order a red velvet cake for a birthday. Melissa was talking to a friend, which my husband said was evident from the conversation. He said he waited and waited and finally she decided to acknowledge him. She told him she would need at least two weeks notice. For a simple plain cake??? She was rude through the conversation which is unsurprising since she ignored him to visit with her friend. It doesn’t matter if she’s a good baker, because she gives horrible customer service. I wouldn’t trust her to get it...

Thank you to Melissa and her team for making our wedding cake not only beautiful but DELICIOUS. From the moment my mom and I did the cake tasting at Melissa's, I knew our cake would be made with nothing but love. She was so inviting and all of her cake flavors/ fillings/ icing's were soooo good, I had a tough time choosing. We went with a half yellow half chocolate with a strawberry filling and cream cheese icing, and it was AMAZING. I have had multiple guests tell me how much they enjoyed it as well. At first I had a different vision in mind for what I wanted my cake to look like, but then changed my mind and asked if she could do a "vintage" wedding cake, with ton's of piping, and it exceeded my expectations. Good desserts, but terrible communication - especially since we were planning on using them for our wedding. We emailed 6-7 times and she got back to us 1 week before the wedding saying she doesn't check her email - and that we should've called.

Ironically, we each called 3 times, and I even spoke to Melissa directly twice - asking if we were still on and if we could get the contract. Each time she said she'd send it soon but never ended up contacting us until the week before. She said she "sent" the contract, but it was a photo of quote, nothing that we could sign and definitely not a contract.

If you live nearby and can go in person, things may be easier, but if you live far away, expect to have issues with...
