I recently visited one of the other locations and had the chance to have the owner Rich serve me himself when picking up my order. After seeing his pleasant, friendly and professional demeanor, I have decided to update my review and rate his establishment five stars. I realized running multiple locations and trying to maintain steady and consistent service to the patrons is not always feasible and despite training employees like you would like the job done that's not always work out. When I first met Rich 43 yrs ago, he was a very young man as was I trying to build a lasting business. After seeing him recently after all these years and witnessing the passion he still carries for his business and his customers I had to come and rewrite my review. I realized that during our interaction he did not recognize me after all of these years. After all I was only 19yrs old and he must have been only a couple years older or maybe the same age when he had first started his pizzaria. Seeing him after all these years and him serving me and seeing first hand the love and care he he displayed was a powerful and wonderful experience for me . I would like to offer my sincere apology for my previous review that I had written about his business and realized that one bad experience I had due to a employee that did not take pride in their work should not reflect on the countless hours of sweat and dedication he has put into building his successful business for multiple communities. Rich is a rare individual that truly cares about his product and his customers, believe me I have witnessed this first hand for over 43 yrs now. He has earned the success that he has been able to create for himself and has family. Anyone reading this review please patronize all his business locations and know that the product and service you are receiving is above the norm and should be appreciated my all that are lucky enough to live hear one of his locations. Continued success to this gentleman's hard work and dedication to his craft. I have left my previous shameful review below for others to view but feel great regret for writing it. I hope Rich can find it in his heart to forgive me for leaving such a harsh review. Please like and share this review with others.
What the H happen to the quality and consistently of this place. I grew up eating their pizza since 1979 and now I do not think I will be returning. My stuff pizza I received today was saturated with runny liquid inside which made it very soggy. Also the ingredients (sausage, onions and green peppers) were sparsely spread out unevenly. This is what you get for $35.00. How hard is it to make sure your vegetables are dry before putting them inside a pizza. Unless it's their own order , people just don't give a ish anymore. Like alot of restaurants today, charge more and decrease the ingredients that are being used. It is clear their is no longer any quality control in place here and the workers do not take pride in producing a quality product. I wish the owner was still on site controlling the product quality. This place will not be around in 5 yrs. Thank God! Nice run John.
Response to owner. I never said the owner was named John. I have known you Rich since 1979 when you had the propensity to repeatedly call the police on me and my friends to harass us because you where not comfortable seeing other ethnicities in the area back then. Despite this unwelcoming behavior from you, we still patronize your business. This is the correct pizza place. I have only been coming there since moving to and moving from Glenwood since 1979. Thank you for not addressing my recent horrible experience about your product quality and not offering an apology or solution. Just goes to show what you really think about the customers in this area that made you what you are today. This review is a legitimate compliant about the product and experience I received from your establishment and will...
Read moreIt pains me to write this review, because I’ve been eating this pizza for 25+ years. We always ordered here for our weekly pizza nights. But the last 5 times we ordered, something was really off with the sauce. It was watery and didn’t taste like their usual recipe at all. EVERYONE in the family commented on it. The sauce is the main thing that separates them from other pizza places, so I don’t know why they would change it. The first couple times we thought, maybe it was just a bad day. But after FIVE separate orders where the pizza didn’t taste right, we haven’t been back. Hopefully they’ll go back to the old recipe/quality eventually. Until then, we’ve found other pizza places for our weekly pizza night. I see a couple other recent reviews talking about the same thing with the pizza tasting different recently, so I know it’s not just us.
Also, they should get some friendlier people to answer the phone. The guy who I think might be an owner/manager (because he’s usually always there) is ALWAYS friendly. But there’s one girl who was extremely dry/borderline rude every time I called and she answered. And they need a better system to write down orders, because there have been multiple times where I’ve ordered separate toppings on each half of the pizza, and they did not prepare it correctly.
Finally, it’s really annoying/inconvenient that they don’t have a menu with prices published anywhere. There have been several times where we’ve wanted to do a big order for work or another event, but we need to be able to see the prices for the various pizza sizes and toppings, so we can plan ahead of time and have an idea of cost. Nobody wants to sit on the phone asking a million questions. So we just end up ordering from Aurelio’s when we’re doing a large order. Every other pizza place I order from has prices listed online, so it’s weird that...
Read moreThis was literally the first pizza I ever had. I grew up with this pizza and have been a long time customer since the age of five. I'm now 33. It truly breaks my heart to see the decline and customer service primarily, and craftsmanship for a long time local favorite.
The care truly just isn't there anymore. You try to call and the person on the phone is extremely rude. It almost feels like you're harassing them to place an order the way they talk to you. I understand how popular and busy this place gets but it's certainly a standard to speak to your customers with bare minimum respect, let alone appreciation for giving your hard-earned money in exchange for a good.
The pizza itself is really inconsistent depending on who is preparing. On its best days, it may very well be the best pizza in the Chicago land area. On its worse days, I wouldn't feed it to my dog.. I wish they used boxes so that you could actually check on the pizza before you pull off but they put it in a bag and staple it closed.
Simply put, the quality of the pizza is extremely inconsistent and the price has gone up dramatically over time. 31 bucks for a family cheese pizza is insane.. before you even get to toppings. I recognize inflation but this is honestly just a product of greed. Hate to say it but Arenello's has really dropped from his glory days to be an overpriced and inconsistent restaurant. Here's hoping that a change in management and the next few years will lead to a return to emphasis on quality and...
