Bacchanal Junction - New Jersey The name @bacchananj is truly fitting for this restaurant Bacchanal Junction ° 558 Arlington Ave, NJ 07003 @bacchananj is such a vibe! The Caribbean spots in New Jersey are growing and this is one to check out. The di kept the energy goin, and the staff are friendly. When I see wontons on the menu l have to get it and these were 10/10, the oxtail were a favorite as well, and the roti was authentic The owners have a Trinidadian background so I didn't expect anything less. If you're looking for a good Caribbean spot I. Jersey I would check them out! #nyc #newjersey #newjerseyrestaurant #newjerseyplacestogo #newjerseydiner

I had high hopes, based on all the positive reviews I'd read. My husband and I were very disappointed. Positives: Our reservation was honored and we had no wait - Friday evening at 6:30 PM in March. There is a small, free parking lot around the back of the restaurant. It was full when we arrived, so we parked on the nearby residential street. Bathrooms are clean. Bacchanal Junction has a wonderful vibe! Music was nice, and not too loud. We were sat at a two person table, not far from other customers. We had no trouble having a conversation. The staff was pleasant. Our server, Phil, was cool. He patiently answered all my questions (and I always have a lot of them). My husband really enjoyed the oxtail rasta pasta. The oxtail was LITERALLY fall off the bone tender, and the pasta was creamy and delicious. I don't eat meat, so I cannot speak about the oxtail, but the pasta pasta was great... spicy and tasty. Cons: We each ordered a Sorrel Buccaneer. It wasnt terrible but, unfortunately, it tasted nothing like sorrel. It was also very weak. We ordered a shot of Bulleit bourbon to supplement. For appetizers we ordered bacalao fish bites and salmon bites. The bacalao was VERY salty. Perhaps the fish needed to be boiled a bit longer before preparing? The salmon had no flavor. The accompanying sauces were good, so that helped. As an entree, I ordered stewed kingfish with white rice and sweet plantains. The plantains were perfect (yay!) and the rice was fine but, again, the fish had clearly not been seasoned. It had a nice texture, but seems to have simply been topped with the sauce (the sauce was not bad). If the drinks had been better, I would suggest trying Bacchanal for happy hour simply because of the cool vibe but I cannot. 18 percent gratuity is automatically added to your bill. Including tax and tip, our total was $165. Not really worth it.

Don’t go there to Eat the Food is Trashhhh, pack them up!!!! The service and wait time was acceptable, waiter was so nice. The music was a vibe, the decor is something I can get Into after work. However I went with an appetite and was disappointed big time. The food horrible 😩 the King fish wasn’t washed with lemon and vinger no type of seasoning just a ketchup based sauce. The black rice doesn’t even taste like was like black rice , the grain of rice used it a cheap brand considering the price for the food , Smh No Ma’am. The Oxtail 😩 tasted like it been boiled in a pressure cooker not braising. The sauce for the oxtail was watery and tasteless like the parboiled Oxtail stew. The food had a funny after taste, my mixed vegetables tasted like the day prior. My rum punch was just PUNCH, had to pay for an extra shot. Overall I could see it just being an after hour lounge. Oh the Shrimp Wontons DO NOT Waste your time. I left the spot and was still Hungry. Food was trash but the service was Decent and friendly. We tipped our waitress because she really wanted us to have great dinning experience. Look all the food left behind, Trashhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. 3 days later and I’m still annoyed I dine there, I didn’t know any better

Pros: Convenient parking lot, though I imagine it would be packed during a busier day/time. The DJ played good music at a decent volume most of the time. We were seated quickly, which we liked. The staff were friendly. The food came quickly. The jerk chicken and mac and cheese were really good, as were the plantains. Cons: The music stopped and randomly increased for a time. Our waiter had to be flagged down often, because while he seemed earnest, he was not keen on checking in on our table to make sure we had everything. The woman that checked us in did though. We ordered jerk chicken and received jerk salmon. The waiter apologized and corrected this error. The oxtail was a bit tough, and the rice seemed a bit dry. The consistency of the oxtail gravy was more akin to oil. We were charged 18% gratuity for a party of 2. I'm not sure of the law around tipping, but I prefer to have the option to tip, and often tip 20%. Being mandated feels like false advertising, since the pricing is very different when you are mandated to pay an extra fee.

If you’re looking for a nice Caribbean spot in Jersey with good food & vibes, then you should definitely try this place! Me & my girls decided to try this place out on a Friday night & they did not disappoint! The vibes & atmosphere was good. They even had a live dj that played really good music! He even took one of our requests. We weren’t able to try the real food because the kitchen was closed when we got there but the late night bites & drinks were great! The passion fruit & mango lemon drops were bomb. We also tried some of the signature drinks that were good as well. We got the salmon bites & wings with fries. The manager and waiter was also really nice. Even the bathroom was cute & clean. They also have a parking lot. If you’re from Jersey, you know how hard it can be to find parking for some restaurants, so this was another plus in my book. Overall we had a great time & will definitely be back to try the other foods & experience the vibes again!

From the moment i walked in the service level already made me more curious about this fairly new restaurant just 5 mins from my home. The industrial and Caribbean theme works well for this eatery. I decided to do takeout but after sitting at the bar and talking with owner and other employees i decided to have a drink made by a wonderful mixologist and have an appetizer while waiting for my togo order. The shark bites were incredibly wonderful good crunch and tasty not soggy as shark meat can be. The presentation didn't disappoint either. Im glad there is yet another restaurant close to me that offers a fine dining experience without me having to go to another town. I see and expect Bacchanal to just expand and perfect on what's already a really good dining experience. Thank you Jewelz,Tia and Janayah you are what helps Bacchanal to be the success it is and will continue to be.
