Ordered take out from here, it's new to Bloomfield, CT. I figured I'd give it a try, there are a couple of Japanese/Chinese spots. But none are as good and clean as this one in the area.
Food: We ordered a plethora of items, Hibachi Chicken, soft shell crab, general Tsos, crab rangoons, and sushi.
The hibachi presentation in the delivery was beautiful. The taste was divine, the chicken was well seasoned, moist, juicy, the rice well cooked. The same can be said for the general tsos (white meat), I got a container full of just chicken, it was delicious and soft, the sauce was the perfect viscosity. The soft shell crab was as soft shell crab should be- the sushi was also flavorful, and well presented.
Price: Other reviews claimed this place was expensive, and quite frankly the prices are fair- especially with the quantity of food you’re getting. Japanese food isn’t cheap, but these prices definitely are not on the expensive side considering.
Delivery: We called it in, the woman on the phone was pleasant as was our delivery driver. They were very prompt.
I highly recommend this place, and I hope more people find...
Read moreFor the first time I ordered food there. I went on their menu and saw a picture of what looked delicious. They insisted it was not longer available and asked them to look at their online menu. Again insisted it was no longer available. I sent a friend to go and pick it up with a picture of what i really wanted. Their response was i needed to order it by a different name. They never went online to see what I really wanted. I ordered house special fried rice. It was like 16.00 and I asked her how many people does it serve, and she said only one. I said it better be pretty good. I ordered 2 servings and a Volcano Roll. The rice was definitely enough for 2 each and more. There was hardly any meat or shrimp. I should have ordered it from Jumbo Buffet ND for 16.00 I would have gotten triple the meat, shrimp and vegetables like I usually do and saved 16.00. The volcano roll was the worst sushi I ever had. As a matter of fact, gas station sushi tastes better. I would never recommend this place. Run. My bill was 55.00 everything sucked even service. The picture bellow is...
Read moreIkoi is brand new, and off to a good start. They kept the booths from the previous place, which are showing some wear, but it's clean and well-decorated otherwise. We tried a variety of things. The miso soup was light and pleasing and the salad was fresh but mostly iceberg. The steamed pork dumplings were overall very good, on the large size, and very full of meat. The pork filling could have used a little more seasoning or more aromatics. The spicy salmon roll was heavy on the tempura and light on the spicy mayo, but the salmon itself tasted good. We really liked the yellowtail scallion roll, which is nice - yellowtail can sometimes taste very "fish", especially the kind used in maki, but this was nice. The eggplant garlic with chicken was okay, but the eggplant was a little overdone and greasy. The hibachi shrimp and steak both tasted great and were cooked well....
