Whenever I try a new Mexican restaurant the first thing I always order are the tacos al pastor. In my experience if the tacos al pastor don't taste good then the rest of the dishes would more than likely taste the same. I thought El Rinconcito would go the easy way and use the premade al pastor that they have at the small Mexican market right next door, La Carneceria. To the surprise of my taste buds El Rinconcito has their very own al pastor recipe that is absolutely delicious. They gave me three salsas to use for my tacos which were the red salsa that had just the right amount of heat that had my nose running but not so hot that I couldn't enjoy my tacos. The salsa verde or green salsa had a milder heat and was tangy. And the last was the avocado salsa which also had a milder heat but with a creamer taste. To wash it down I had the Mexican Coke which is made with real pure cane sugar which in my opinion tastes way better than what you can get at everyday grocery stores. The restaurant is small with seven tables that seat two people and a row of three stools along the wall with a long bar table. The two women working there were pleasant and very sweet. My arm is in a sling due to shoulder surgery and one of the ladies was nice enough to help pop off the cap to my bottle of coke. With such delicious tacos I expect that the word will get out and this little hole in the wall will get packed pretty quickly come lunch or dinner time.
Lucky for me, El Rinconcito is just a short walk from my home and I will be taking...
Read moreDo I suggest this place? Yes, I do. The tacos are quite familiar to me almost like Veracruz. The staff were quite friendly and greeted us right away as both myself and a family member had entered during a busy time.
As we both went on opening day/night, we couldn't believe how short of a wait it took for us to get our food to-go. I got the taco combo with steak and it tasted quite amazing. I caught mild and hot sauce for my sauces which were good in flavor. I also got a can of Diet Coke in which the owner gave it to me for free. My family member got 2-3 steak tacos which also looked good.
One thing I will point out is that you should know seating isn't the greatest at this location in my opinion. If you're the type to want to do to-go only, this is a perfect place to do so. There's a few booths, and then a few chairs to sit in. Seating at this place when it was Gracie's was about the same too. I'd plan ahead and go when they open if you wish to get a seat, or do a to-go order like we both did.
The staff speak perfect English here, so you will have no issue with ordering in English. I would say this was an issue at other places in the past, but this place is great! There's no language...
Read moreI moved to this college town last year and I love mexican food. For that whole year I have been trying to find really good mexican food they truly reminds me of home. I just so happened to be sick and tired of mediocre quality, or just horrible NON authentic food. I did a quick google search and this place popped up and I knew… this was it. This place was my new go to spot. We walked in there and made the mistake of just sitting down and having the waitress come take our order when you’d usually go to the counter. It was our 1st time rookie mistake but our waitress was very friendly and made sure we were at home. They give complimentary chips and salsa and it was $17 to $19 dollars for a 3 steak Taco combination plate i added (sour cream, cilantro, onion and cheese) and a glass bottle Pepsi, Squirt or Coke. They are huge btw. They have giant holder of sauces salsa verde, chipotle red, and verde avocado salsa. The steak in my tacos was well if not perfectly seasoned, my rice and beans were amazing, and the salsas as well. My friend had the Torta and he said it was amazing. Very crispy, seasoned well and amazing in flavor. It was so good we went back 3 days later to eat...
