Update: feast was ruined by endeavor, the company that bought the old feast and cut quality dramatically.
I'm doubtful I will ever be returning. Feast used to be good a couple years ago. Their menu used to have a great selection. The problem is their wait staff continues to upset me. The wait staff are so badly undermining the amazing chefs. The majority of times I've been to feast, it has basically been a requisite that I have to deal with wait staff problems: either lack of wait staff or rudeness or I will have to go and find them after 20-30 minute breaks in seeing them; usually multiple of these issues per visit and repeatedly throughout the visit. Just to clarify, I don't mind waiting to be seated, but once I'm seated I want to receive some service. The last time I went, the wait staff acted hostile towards us almost right away (the hostess for brunch at the feast cellar 2018-02-03). And, of course we had to get up and grab our own menus after being seated and forgotten: another repeat theme for my visits. The menu wasn't good this time, all previous menus were decent or great or sometimes even amazing and worth dealing with wait staff to order from. I should at least be able to find one item that seems interesting and delicious on the menu when I have no dietary restrictions. The desserts were also picked over and about 1/3rd of them were gone completely. Normally the desserts are a saving grace of Feast, because they DO know how to make a winning dessert. But, the desserts were heavily picked over and seemed a bit old on this visit. Even though there were desserts that still looked appetizing, I don't think I would make a brunch out of desserts. Needless to say, we walked out instead of paying $30 each to be treated like this and eat food we don't want. Instead we went to Cloverleaf.
When Feast opened, I would have unquestionably given a 5/5, but the wait staff issues and the recent menu issues and the picked over...
Read moreWe reserved a table for Sunday brunch at 1:30. We had to wait 30 minutes until we were seated.
We were then told about half the menu was no longer available. If they had told us that upon check-in, we would chosen to leave and not wait.
After ordering, they told us the sausage half of us had ordered was actually not available and was being substituted with potatoes. I was not asked if that would be ok, because I did not want a second serving of potatoes. They went to waste.
When telling us about the sausage, our server said that because it was now past 2pm, despite not even being seated before 2pm, we could not order anything else because the kitchen was closed.
My five year old son asked for syrup for his crepes, and the server said they could not bring anything else to the table because it was past 2pm. Again, we were not even seated before 2pm. The server then said "you don't need syrup anyway. you'll be getting Halloween candy in a few days." This made my son very upset, and he didn't understand what she meant by this comment and kept asking me to explain it.
I never got asked if I wanted more coffee. My partner had a spicy dish and had to drink my water because our server would not come back for us to ask for refills.
The thing is, you go to the trouble of making reservations and paying the high cost of the food at Feast because it's supposed to be nice. You're supposed to have good food with nice service. But the way we were treated was awful and stressful. No one enjoyed their food, we spent most of the time needing something we couldn't get either because they refused to enter the kitchen after 2pm for literally anything or our server was purposely avoiding us.
If you are going to be so strict about your kitchen closing, don't take reservations close to that time, and certainly don't make them wait 30 minutes to be seated.
I will literally...
Read moreMy husband and I were in town for winter break with our two children. We placed a grilled cheese order with our waitress as she stated they could do that for the kids since they don’t have a designated kids menu. This was our first time at this restaurant. This is a place that has sandwiches on their menu and both have cheese on them so seems like a likely choice for the kids. We go lots of places with our kids and restaurants are always happy to make them a pasta, sandwich or something if they don’t have a designated menu or something off regular menu that would work as most of the time our kids prefer the regular menu. Kids are people too. However, after ordering the food our waitress came back and said she was told they could not make a grilled cheese and had to order off the menu. I was flabbergasted. The waitress left and we looked at the menu. Literally, I noted we could order either of the sandwiches on the menu ourselves and request that they hold all toppings/items besides the cheese and would voila create a grilled cheese. We would have paid the same price as the sandwiches on the menu. Obviously, could have chosen to make a grilled cheese but instead declined. This left a very bad taste in our mouth so we canceled our order at no fault of our waitress as it was out of her control. We have never encountered this at a restaurant before and we definitely won’t be back. Very...
