I don't think I can say enough positive things about Hopscotch. I have been going there for the last three years of my undergraduate experience, and in every category they are far and away the best, and my favorite, coffeeshop in town. The staff is not only pleasant, but incredibly genial and hospitable. I have had really engaging conversations with some, and even positive experiences in passing as I order. I've come to learn several of the baristas names, and since my first time there I have been genuinely welcomed, even when my own disposition was somber or despondent. The drinks have always been my favorite in town. The drip coffee has a vibrant, never burnt taste. I actually didn't even enjoy coffee when I first started coming here, but Hopscotch has shown me the light. Their iced teas are perfect for hot summer days, and the chai boosts even the coldest late nights. There have been several times when I have asked the barista to surprise me, or I have tried their new seasonal drink, and I begin to order that drink as a part of my regular rotation of beverages. The are outlets available for almost every seat in the building, a rare amenity for most of the coffeeshops in bloomington. Finally, the location and ambiance of the shop is decidedly and undoubtedly the best in the entire town. The location on the b-line offers a quiet and rejeuvenating respite from whatever work might have brought you in. A short walk on the b-line is ideal for when you are meeting with someone and needing recreation in the midst of your conversation. It also serves as a picturesque view to inspire whatever you may be doing. One of my favorite things has been sitting out on the patio while it rains. The raindrops hitting the metal roof creates the most soothing tones to sit and reflect to. Within the store itself, there is a fashionable and contemporary style, but none of it comes off as hostile or unfriendly. The store is cozy and comforting, offering a casual atmosphere to enjoy your drinks and pastries. Even down to the music that they play, this is a coffeeshop meant to welcome you in, away from the busyness of campus or the downtown, and offer you the greatest respite that Bloomington has to offer. This coffeeshop is hallowed ground for me, and I am very thankful that I was able to enjoy it during my time in...
Read moreBad customer service. I went there today cause they are close to my work. I have been there 2x prior to this and did not recieve the best of service and they do take a while to do ur order but i figured id give it a last chance cause i did enjoy their bagels. I called ahead thinking i could place an order so its ready for pick up since i had a 10 min break. The girl i talked to was rude makin it awkward that i requested a bagel for pick up. I did explain that i worked right down the street and i had little time since i would be on a quick break. When i showed up 10 min later, She never even started my order... She half assed apologised for being rude but then recommended that i go down to another store for any future pick up orders cause they were too busy..not only did she tell me more than 2xs that there was another store down the street and pretty much to never place an order for pick up...so when i finally got back to work.. I realized not only did she give me grief about me placing a phone order but she didnt even get my order right?! I was expecting a sesame seed bagel only to bite into a jalapeno chunk...she gave me a jalapeno bagel instead?! Im sensitive to spicy food and my mouth was on fire! I am definitely taking my business elsewhere. If the owner or manager reads this. I was served by a blond girl with colored eyes and from the 3xs i have been to ur store, she gave me the worst customer service. Please check who you choose to represent your store!...sincerely A...
Read moreOur Sunday morning brunch trip here was... interesting. We had looked at the photos on Google and thought we'd walk in to find more than just standard Menu that was on the stand inside the doors. There was no brunch menu, but they did have a brunch special on the board, so we opted for that. When we ordered, I inquired about coffee and was told to walk over to the coffee counter, where we each ordered a cappuccino. It was quite odd. Also. I'm not opposed to clearing my own table, but for $40 and having to walk from one part of the establishment to the other just to complete our order(s), I was slightly put off, especially because I was unsure of whether I could even put our cappuccino cups/plates in the same bin as our food plates, so walked to the coffee shop area to place them there. It was just an awkward experience, all around. The smothered burrito was ok -- it was literally a burrito with eggs and bacon instead of the standard burrito proteins, with enchilada sauce and sour cream, served with a lime wedge and small serving of guacamole. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great, and certainly tasted exactly the way it looked... like a breakfast enchilada. I'm a fan of Mexican food, and breakfast foods, but this combo wasn't quite what I'd hoped it would be. The cappuccino was...
